Popular Post rdatelle Posted May 4, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted May 4, 2018 (edited) This is a Steve Goods pattern I wanted to try. I used poplar and it's about 8 inches tall. It was a little tricky to do but I managed to finish it. I started out using a #5 polar but when I cut out the U and the V, I noticed that the underside was a little wider when I took the scrap piece out. I guess the blade was wandering a little underneath so I changed to a #7 polar and seem to cut a little better but it was a slow process. The block of wood was 1.5 x 1.5. Maybe I'lll try a #9 Edited May 4, 2018 by rdatelle TripleJScroller, Sam777, Scrappile and 8 others 9 2 Quote
blights69 Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Nice piece I like it but boy imagine finishing one that length and opening it to find it has not worked Great job on your though Quote
rdatelle Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 I know what you mean Frank. I was a little worried about it because of the two cutout pieces but even though the U and the V are a little wider on the back side, you can't even notice it unless someone points it out. A non scroller would never notice it. Quote
GrampaJim Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 (edited) Well done! I just cut that pattern too. Yours came out way better than mine did. Edited May 4, 2018 by GrampaJim Quote

heppnerguy Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 very different cutting . I saw it on Steve's site but wasn't really sure what is would look like, cut. Interesting but just one I would not choose to cut. Dick heppnerguy Quote

newfie Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 Nice work that' on my to do list.thanks for sharing Quote
spirithorse Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 You did a great job, Ralph, Personally I cannot imagine cutting that with a #9 or even a #7 for that matter. Since you mention that a non-scroller wouldn't notice the thickness difference, maybe you're just being too hard on yourself. I know we all shoot for perfection but, sometimes we have to give ourselves a little break. Great work! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
wombatie Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 You are a braver man than me Ralph. I would not even try it. Great work my friend, I commend you on your ability or guts for giving it a go. Marg Quote

rdatelle Posted May 5, 2018 Author Report Posted May 5, 2018 Thanks everyone for the compliments. Your right Bob, sometimes I am to fussy. What blade would you use on something like that. I was afraid to go smaller. I even cut down on the speed. Maybe i was going to fast with the #5 blade and that;s why it might of wandered a little. Any tips. Quote

Any tips. I cut one out of popular using a #5 MG Pegas blade. Which is my go to blade for anything 1/2” or more. Quote
