jerry1939 Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Just about used up all my blue tape. Bought a roll of shelf liner from Wally. Was unable to find a spot to remove the backing. Turned on my 1 remaining brain cell and put a piece of masking tape on the front & back and used those as "handles". Worked great. Is there a better way, or do I need to put some kind of tape on each time? jerry Thanks OCtoolguy 1 Quote

What you did is ingenius. R Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I just cut across one corner with a sharp knife, cutting only halfway through either side, bend the cut corner and peel. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Karl S Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Grab the edge like a tearing motion and only pull slightly until it starts to tear then you can separate the baking from the liner, the paper tears but the liner doesn't OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Jerry, I think you found the "better way". I always struggle with removing the backing, and I have some double sided tape that is even worse. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

After I get a ways into the shelf liner, I will try it there also. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

spirithorse Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 I really liked your work-around, Jerry! Sounds great! Karl S. may have a great idea also. I haven't used the shelf liner yet. God Bless! Spirithorse OCtoolguy 1 Quote
jerry1939 Posted May 7, 2018 Author Report Posted May 7, 2018 Yesterday I used a piece again. Went with the idea of Octoolguy. Bent over a very small corner. Took the flat side of a pencil, held it firmly down on the crease and ran it across a couple of times. Because the paper & the liner were 2 different radiuses, they sheared apart. When the pencil was lifted, two things happened: 1. The sticky shelf liner paper popped back down flat & the paper stayed folded, providing a very nice handle. 2. It put a smile on my face to see how ridiculously easy that was. Again, the credit goes to Octoolguy. jerry meflick, OCtoolguy and SCROLLSAW703 3 Quote

crupiea Posted May 13, 2018 Report Posted May 13, 2018 Good call. Might start using that on my trash bags. I get to the point where I just cant figure them out and just cut a corner to get them open. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

They will slide the 2 layers of the plastic, (on top) creating a bubble. jerry OCtoolguy 1 Quote
