Popular Post blights69
Managed a few bits n bobs in between having to sort garden out etc to keep the other half happy . Some are Steve good patterns all cut with found materials saved from land fill NOTE TO ANYONE MAKING THIS DO NOT CUT THE DOWEL AS PER PLANS THEY STATE CUT IT AT 2.5" THERE IS WAY TOO MUCH PLAY AND I HAVE SINCE ADDED A PIN EITHER SIDE OF HAMMER TO STOP IT MOVING ABOUT THE DOWEL SO MUCH MY SECOND ONE I DITCHED THE INSTRUCTIONS HELD THE 3 PIECES TOGETHER AS IN BRACKETS AND HAMMER HANDLE AND ADDED 5MM AND CUT THE DOWEL AT THAT LENGTH IT WORKS MUCH BETTER Workshop Door Knocker.mp4 Edited May 19, 2018 by blights69 GPscroller, Sam777, courtym74 and 9 others

spirithorse
Nice work, Frank, I especially like the last cross in the first picture because of the way you oriented the grain. Normally, I would have just run the grain horizontally in that pattern but, your version reminds me to look for other alternatives that may appeal to different people. Good work! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse blights69

Phantom Scroller
Good work Frank like the door knocker I would nail a pin each side to stop it moving along the dowel. Roly blights69

Roly Great minds n all that Roly already done my friend the pattern on the Steve Good site says use a 2.5" dowel my next one I am going to cut the dowel to the thickness of the 3 pieces together and add maybe 3 or 4 mm to allow the hammer a little free movement but this one does now have a pin either side . The annoying thing is when making it I held the 3 pieces and then cut the dowel and for some strange reason my eyes drifted to the dreaded instructions at some point and I cut the dowel again. Yes yes I know I broke the golden rule and left the instructions on the bench and not in the bin :0 . I am going to add a note to the original post so no one else cuts it to that size Phantom Scroller
