Nice one Rob...What is the thickness are they ply and if so don't think they made Matai ply....But have been wrong on the odd occasion..................

Hi Merlin,

These are cut from drawer side panels, not ply.  I don't know if Matai was ever used in furniture construction but the first one doesn't seem to be rimu and is much harder and denser which made me think of Matai but I am guessing!

You may be right never heard or seen in furniture, then it's the color of the piece.

Most Matai I have and some on my floor, (looking at floor boards) bugger you could be right some Matai on the floor has some coloring like your piece.

I have some 100 plus year old flooring board that was given me a while back and all heart no sap.

Now I'm confused, bugger
