Then one from our very own Bobscroll but no idea what the timber is And finally one that I don't remember where I got the pattern but in native New Zealand Rimu. All timber is reclaimed from the side panels of old drawer boxes and finished with 50/50 BLO. Hi Merlin, These are cut from drawer side panels, not ply. I don't know if Matai was ever used in furniture construction but the first one doesn't seem to be rimu and is much harder and denser which made me think of Matai but I am guessing! Most Matai I have and some on my floor, (looking at floor boards) bugger you could be right some Matai on the floor has some coloring like your piece.
