Popular Post Jronn65
So, what is the most difficult scroll saw project you have done? These were tough for me because of their size, 40”x22”, and I had to cut the mirrors myself, which I wasn’t experienced in. Jronn65
Ok, how about something you cut that was challenging?
Jim McDonald
Probably the hardest thing I ever cut was the logo for Ball State University from 3/4" Brazilian Cherry. The logo itself is a mild challenge, but that cherry was hard as concrete. If the blade got just the slightest bit dull, you could smell smoke. But, it was destined to be a gift for a recently retire faculty member who truly appreciated it, so everything came out okay. Scrappile
That is a very nice piece of work you did. Cutting that size would definitely be a challenge. I have two things I cut early on in my scrolling that I look back on and think if I did those I can do the whatever one I may be currently thinking of doing. These were not difficult because of size, but because of how delicate they were. And I had to learn spiral blades to do them. The Viking took two tries for me. Jronn65
That Viking looks like it would be tough!
spirithorse
I've done several Jeff Zaffino patterns that were fragile, a large Lord's Prayer pattern that was challenging but, I think the hardest patterns for me were just small letters and numerals for Wedding Plaques that had the names and dates. Your mirrors are fantastic. God Bless! Spirithorse Jronn65

blights69
Mine was of Valentino Rossi on his bike I had a request for it when I had just started last year and I kept putting it off and putting it off because before that I had done easy learning pieces but bit the bullet in the end and gave it a go he loved it I did not lol it was 3 foot long and 2 foot wide I spent a lot of hours on it more so because I was fresh at it and once started did not want to make pretty firewood out of it anyways here is mine . ScollSaw Slasher
Some nice tough projects being shown. But I like to tell you that the toughest cut was the last one (LOL). No matter how simple or complex the project, there's always something that could be done a little better, simpler, different, blade selection, wood selection etc etc. That's why this scroll sawing is so interesting. Jronn65
I forgot to mention that the pattern for my shelves came from finescrollsaw.com.

Yes Brazilian Cherry... I was trying to think of the most difficult challenge.. while the pattern I did on the B- Cherry wasn't really a difficult one.. just the wood was being difficult.. and I was on a schedule to get it done.. Also some projects that are quite large I find to be difficult to make.. and that is why i always said I don't need a BIG saw... I don't plan to do large work.. even been asked many times to make something on the larger size and I turn the work away most times.. GPscroller
The dragon I did back in '02 and it took me forever, using my original Delta 15". I would cut a few of the scales and get frustrated and set the project aside for a few weeks and then try again. This went on for a few months Last year I did the Grizzly Bear and thought nothing of it (that was after I had cut the Viking Warrior with Scrappile's encouragement). Different saws and experience do make a difference. Jeff Jronn65, Lucky2, danny and 3 others
Scrappile
Oh, ya and I have the Grizz to do one of these days. So many neat pictures, so little time! @Jronn65, finescrollsaw.com, one of my favorite places to visit and get patterns from. Pedro is so nice to deal with and it is really fun to see what others, from all over the world have done with his patterns.
