orangeman
I tried placing my new Delta saw on my old 788 stand. No dice. The Delta saw has a longer base than the 788. I should be able to extend either the front or rear of the 788 stand to accommodate the Delta saw. bb OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
That's surprising. I wonder what they elongated and for what reason. Is it just in the casting? Are the arms any different? Curious.
dgman
The newer Delta saw is not identical to the DeWALT. The older model was the same saw painted Delta blue. The newer Delta Saw was changed to accommodate the arm lift mechanism and of course to make it their own saw, not a DeWALT clone. At one time Delta and DeWALT were part of Black And Decker, but not anymore. OCtoolguy
dgman
Orangeman, thanks for letting us know that the new Delta won’t fit the DeWALT stand without modification. Next time someone asks, we will know the answer! OCtoolguy
orangeman
I extended the rear part of the 788 stand with a piece of plywood. The Delta is now in place and runs really well. What a relief not to deal with blade breakage and changing blades on my Hawk and Hegner! I didn't know this when I bought the saw but it has a 5 year warranty! bb OCtoolguy
Woodmaster1
I have a delta stand but still made modifications that could be a used to make a Dewalt stand fit. The try has become a good sawdust collector and scrap holder. It seems help keep the mess in one location. OCtoolguy
