Sambo19
I am sure people have done this type of thing, just haven't seen it. I had been keeping a piece of wood next to the scroll saw just for this purpose. I think even loose string would make it engage automatically, but a stretch cord, like I use for my tomato plants held it in place and makes it snap in to position when ever I lift the saw arm. It doesn't get in the way of most of my work, but you could snip the cord and retie easy enough, until one of us comes up with a removable option. My pics, sadly blurred the actual blade (Sometimes depth of field is annoying), but the arm clears it for sure. It is dang near the back edge, any further and it might slip off the back. I think if I got fancy and bevel the top and bottom cuts, it would be a seemless thing of beauty. It works perfectly for my needs, and the whole thing was cut on... you guessed it, the scroll saw. https://imgur.com/WIruUVz https://imgur.com/sUyYLzH https://imgur.com/pMlWyqP frankorona, amazingkevin, OCtoolguy and 2 others 3
meflick
Nice work. If you really want to get fancy - Steve Good has a pattern on his blog for a man or woman to "lift" it up from Gary Parks it looks like. You can find them here: http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/2014/06/gary-parks-introduces-dee-and-walt.html when I was using my DeWalt, I had made one for it. I added a magnet inset on its backside so that I could keep it on the side of the saw when not in use. Sambo19 and OCtoolguy 1
Scrappile
Simple and effective, that is the way to go. I like it. I had a block of wood with a wood handle nailed to it.. ugly, but worked good but I finally ended up with a "Jim Dandy" lift because I kept knocking my block to the floor when it wasn't holding the arm up. Guess I should have tied a rope to it so I could retrieve it with out bending over... rjR
Before my DW died; I used about the same thing, except no string. I had a hole in it and had a hook on the saw stand that I hung it on. OCtoolguy
