JimErn
Cans of finish often come with those white plastic press to turn safety caps, I hate them. Anyone know an easy way to get the stupid safety cap off?
fredfret
I cut them off with a pair of wire cutters and use the metal lid inside. I keep the lid when I run out and use it with the replacement can. OCtoolguy
JustLarry
I cut the plastic off, also. Larry OCtoolguy
JTTHECLOCKMAN
I cut with razor knife. OCtoolguy
JimErn
ROFL I just found the easy way, I had been trying to remove the white cap with the whole cap off the can Leave the cap tight on the can, put a flat blade screwdriver under the white edge and pry up, it pops right off. I was just going to say that but you beat me to it.

No more cutting for me. Will adopt the pop it off trick. Thanks. Larry OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
I had to do it that way because the lid was "frozen" on and even using Channellock pliers I couldn't get it loose. So, I did what you did what a screwdriver and popped the plastic off. Then, the pliers had a good grip and I got it open. From now on, that plastic comes off right away.
