FloridaTermite
Hello all, I am just getting into scroll woodworking... I just picked up an old Atlas 24" Jig/scroll saw for $50. Boy is it heavy! I am ordering 6" blades off Ebay... so I haven't done any work yet. Is anyone else using old iron for scroll work? Do any of you own/use an Atlas scroll saw? Thanks for any info, I look forward to learning more from you all~ Best Regards

amazingkevin
Hello Florida Termite, glad to hear from you, welcome aboard!I had the opportunity to get an old dunlap cast iron scroll saw too.i never set it up as we had no room in the effiency we were in for a year. They were workhorses for many a year and well built. You should enjoy yours too.mine leaked oil somewhere where the bottom blade holder was. This is a very powerfull machine you have with a 1/2 hp.motor.the belt drive should lessen the vibration we all are experienceing. The spring loaded top blade holder is an interesting idea.Wish i could have at least try mine .I also payed $50.00 for it.keep us posted on your progress with this machine. I'm sure you make me wish i had it back. i donated it to the chuch yard sale.

FloridaTermite
Thanks for the warm welcome. The scroll saw is currently all apart and I am painting it up nice...it's amazing what a coat of paint will do for an old saw...all iron... I hope to have my blades sometime in the next week and will hopefully have the thing up and running. I'll keep you all posted and try to upload a couple pictures next
