Dave Monk Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) I have never done intarsia but I thought this product might be useful. https://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Tools_by_Job/Tools_for_Sanding/StewMac_Sharkskin_Abrasive.html?lac_guid=db3d1747-3289-e811-80de-ecb1d775572a&utm_campaign=M1952&utm_medium=email&utm_source=EPA&utm_content=M1952_O_20180718 Edited July 19, 2018 by Dave Monk amazingkevin and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 And, just what are you doing at Stewmac?? Maybe building a guitar?? I knew them well when I was into the cigarbox guitar building hobby. Great place to deal with. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

lawson56 Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 I have done Intarsia a few times, don't know enough to give a proper response.Sounds like a Great product. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 Interesting product, but not sure if I would use it on my Intarsia. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Bpardue Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 I do intarsia all the time and i don't think i would be interested in this. Most of my sanding is done with my flexible drum sander and my power carver. I will also use my sanding mop. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
NC Scroller Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 Like Brian I have done a few intarsia projects and it is 99.9% power sanding. I use a drum sander and a Dremel tool. The only hand sanding is with 320 or 400 grit as a final sanding before the finish.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I use a drum sander, carving with a Dremel, a lot of cloth backed sand paper and other things as needed. While an interesting abrasive, as one who does Intarsia I do not have any interest. heppnerguy Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 Thanks Dave for taking your time to suggest there might be an interest for the intarsia people to see this. So far the response seems to be negative. However others may find this helpful Dick heppnerguy OCtoolguy and Dave Monk 2 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted July 20, 2018 Report Posted July 20, 2018 I don't do intarsia. Yet. But, I can see where this might have its uses for other projects. Thanks Dave. Dave Monk 1 Quote
