I wanted to use colors on the bird itself however with 3/4 inch wood and the thin slats of the bird everywhere only a few pieces of the body could you see colors so I decided to go with black and splatter paint (with 20 gauge wire folded to form a loop dip it in the paint and then spatter away) the frame to add color to the piece.
