NJ Phil
Hi all, I'm new here. I'm also new to scrollsawing. I just bought a Porter Cable scrollsaw and I really enjoy using it. Except for one thing....trying to insert a plain end blade into the lower (jaw?-blade clamp?). The thing that holds the blade is simply a screw and when it is tightened, it bends the blade. Does any one make a blade clamp where the screw is covered (vise-like) that will accept both pin and plain blades?...and will fit a Porter Cable? Thanks for any info. Oges
Unsure about another blade clamp for the saw But as an alternative you could try filing the screw end flat so that it secures the blade better and wont need to be tightened too much so that the blade ends up bending. Hopefully someone more familiar with that saw will have a better idea for you
carlton4143
Most people over tigjten their blade clamps. First clean the blade end with an alcahol(spelling). Then lightly sand the blade ends with fine sandpaper. This will help the blade clamp hold with less preasure. Hope this helps. qlty
Some blade clamps have a set screw on the opposite side of the clamp that take a allen key to adjust in or out. Also like already posted filing the clamp screw could solve your prob. WigWag Workshop
I had the same issue on my Dewalt 788 - the suggestions above, resolved my issue - Mainly, I was over tightening the blade. It took a little time, adjusting the 'set" screw that takes the allen wrench, on both top and bottom. Steven
