...why is the air dead still until I get a paint can in my hand? Now it's blowing about 15mph and spray painting is out of the question.

Yep you have to wait until Mars and Venus are in the house of Saturn . . . or was it Jupiter . . .  or maybe it was Neptune . . . Sorry - I'm an old guy - I forget.

But I have learned  planetary alignment, been reminded of Murphy, found out @Scrappile is in the process of deforesting Arizona, etc.

Happnes to me almost daily. I have to go around this building out to my garage to paint and it will be dead calm inside,  soon as I round the corner its like a hurricane. srs. Drives my nuts, blows all the pieces everywhere.

i learned to put everything into an old guitar box and when I get oyt there I have a little kids tent that I set up, set it on a table and pout the stuff inside to paint it., Still sometimes the tent will boow away when I turn my back even though iu weight it down on each corner with weights.

ive had a few projects end up with about a 150-220 grit finish due to wind gusts. that led me to plan my spraying for early mornings or late evenings when winds are calmest.

Little known fact: Murphy's law was not named after Murphy, but after a man with the same name.

I don't know why that happens but it's the reason I decided I'd make a section of my shop a 'finishing' area. Wind, dust, seeds, cold, rain - I finish inside.
