Popular Post cyclistjim
I haven't been out in the shop much lately as I was having to do a bunch of house fixer ups after getting my house redone with vinyl siding. Suddenly everything around your house looks old and needs to be updated. But I needed to do something for the NC State Fair this October so I cut this out. I still need to make the frame but the cuts are done on this Charles Dearing pattern. The color in the back is not what it will be. Still deciding if I'll use black as usual or something else. This was cut from a 1/4" thick piece of cherry. It is 15 1/2" x 13 1/4" I will be building the frame from some yellowheart I have. Pattern is available here: https://www.bearwood.com/Stunning-Lion-Portrait.html RabidAlien, Scrappile, meflick and 12 others 13

wombatie
Oh WOW that is amazing. You did an extremely good job of the cutting. I would stick with the black background. Good luck at the State Fair. Marg cyclistjim and heppnerguy

Scrappile
You certainly did an outstanding job cutting that one. It is a very "hairy" cut. I did it several years ago. I was actually surprised it held together. heppnerguy and cyclistjim

heppnerguy
Everyone loves the beautiful execution of a rather exciting pattern you just displayed for us all to enjoy. I would vote for the usual black background, as it has not only the best contrast but definitely makes every hole stand out to the max. It is truly a great piece. A frame is definitely going to make this piece a ribbon winner. Good Luck Dick heppnerguy cyclistjim

cyclistjim
Thanks for all he great compliments! I promise to post again once the frame is completed. Probably two to three weeks before the frame is done and completely assembled. Plenty of time I have a 2 week cushion. bobscroll
WayneG
spectacular cutting jim, I would also suggest staying with black, other colors would not be seen through some of the tiny holes. stunning project for sure! cyclistjim

Great thought about colors not showing well. I did use color once before and earlier today I was looking at it and that is what is off about that one. The color in the shadow is just very weak if it can be seen at all!

Exactly, I run into that problem all the time and that is why black is common cyclistjim
