Rockytime
There is a Multi-Max 18 for sale near me. It looks great on craigs list. Year is 1995. Price $375 with stand and foot switch and light. Does not have an up front quick tension lever. If saw is good is the price reasonable? Owner has three Hegners and is selling one. Les, if you can live with doing all the tensioning at the back of the saw, it might be ok. I paid $300 for a 1996 with same equipment but mine had been updated with the new upper arm that has the front tension lever, it had the aluminum knob for tightening the blade upper blade clamp and a bunch of blade holders. It was missing the factory wrench though. That was a $25 cost. Make sure if you test it to look closely at the "soft start" feature. Mine had the soft start but it seemed to search for the desired speed for a second or two. That's why I sold it. I didn't like that. As far as I'm concerned, you have saws now that are as good as or better than the Hegner. I may have had a bad experience but now, I'm just going to lay back and wait for the right deal to come along on a Hawk like yours. Then, I think I will have all the saws I will ever need.
