Hi guys. New to scrolling. I am a retired carpenter and hoping to have found a quiet artistic way to work with wood. Bought an older Excalibur ex30 by Sommerville Design (made in Ontario) It is like new and seems like a nice smooth machine. I have only just made a few cuts so we will see. Glad to be here and learn a lot and eventually contribute.

Welcome to The Village. We are a group from all parts of the world who all love our hobby, each others projects and helping  one another. If you ever have a question about your saw, patterns, blades, wood or anything else related to scrolling, please do not hesitate to post your questions. Please explore our pattern library that is full of great patterns for free and be sure and post your work as you complete them. Everyone of us started scrolling where you are today but not a lot of us have a wood working background so you have a jump on many of us. Just have fun and be sure and log on here often and you will quickly find out that somehow you are a part of our family too.

Thanks Kevin. I did not want to buy too cheap of a starter saw as I have lots of woodworking equipment and know I would regret going too cheap. I was hedging on spending the bucks for a new DeWalt when I found the barely used ex30 for $300 (that’s Canadian $) lol. Came with 6 dozen blades so I should be ok for a while.
