Tomanydogs Posted October 16, 2018 Report Posted October 16, 2018 Hi my name is Irene. I bought a scroll saw last November, now I’m hooked. So many things I want to scroll, so many techniques I want to try. My mind is racing with ideas. I use spiral blades and have made many projects, now I need to figure out the straight blade, I find it challenging. I’m glad to be on this forum and I will be absorbing all your years of expertise. amazingkevin, bradnjackie and John B 3 Quote

meflick Posted October 16, 2018 Report Posted October 16, 2018 Welcome from East Tennessee. Glad you have joined us. Look forward to your participation and seeing some of your work. I have not been brave enough to try spiral blades yet. I hear it can be a love or hate relationship with those. I originally started with Intarsia work about 2 1/2 years ago. Thanks to all the great folks here in the Village, I have expanded that out into other areas of cutting, bradnjackie 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted October 16, 2018 Report Posted October 16, 2018 (edited) Welcome to the forum! Glad to meet you. I use to scroll mostly with spiral blades, but decided to really give flat blades a try. Now I use both depending on what I am cutting. I am very happy that I learned to use both, make scroll even more fun. I look forward to seeing some of your work. Edited October 16, 2018 by Scrappile bradnjackie 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted October 16, 2018 Report Posted October 16, 2018 Hi Irene and welcome to the Village, a very friendly place to hang out. It's really my wife should be greeting you as she is also from Alberta. bradnjackie 1 Quote
Janie Posted October 17, 2018 Report Posted October 17, 2018 Welcome Irene. Glad to have you aboard the scroll train. Great group to share ideas and work and helpful hints. I'm finding a spiral blade challenging since I've only ever used a strait one. Interesting! Janie.... woodpecker bradnjackie 1 Quote
Tomanydogs Posted October 17, 2018 Author Report Posted October 17, 2018 Thanks, I'm excited to be here. Five dogs different breeds and sizes. Love having them, but a challenge when we want to go away, however, wouldn't be without. Straight blades, I have to remind myself they only cut one was, all those turns. bradnjackie 1 Quote
wombatie Posted October 17, 2018 Report Posted October 17, 2018 Welcome to the Village Irene. I take my hat off to you, I have been scrolling for about 20 years and I hate spiral blades and I love all of those turns. Marg Old Joe and bradnjackie 2 Quote
John B Posted October 18, 2018 Report Posted October 18, 2018 Welcome Irene, I use both Spiral and flat blades, depending upon what I'm cutting. You will have fun here, lots to see, learn and friends to make. bradnjackie 1 Quote
bradnjackie Posted October 18, 2018 Report Posted October 18, 2018 Welcome from Alabama Irene, I think you'll like it here, a very friendly and hilarious bunch. I absolutely hate spiral blades. All I was ever able to do with them was tear up my wood, literally. Not for me but glad you like them. Quote

But I am practicing with a straight blade and everyday it gets better. Quote
