Frank, I was about to say the same thing. My Delta is the Chinese version and it works great. Not as nice as the American made one I used to have but it works and I got it pretty cheap. I bought one so that I could have a narrow blade on it for tight curves and a wider blade on my 14" Delta with a riser block. While it was a solidly built machine and ran smoothly, it constantly broke the 1/8" and 3/16" blades that I used on it. I believe it's because of the smaller diameter wheels flex the blade and weld more and fatigue it to breaking. I didn't run them overly tensioned or force the cuts. I ended up selling it and replacing it with a 14" Porter Cable from Lowes. Had no more problems with broken blades. Just my 2 cents. Being it is a smaller travel distance for a smaller blade it has to work 2 or 3 times harder than a full size. heat will stretch those blades and the constant heating and cooling and they do not last long. That is why I would love to own a 16" Laguna. Also the blade guides are probably metal so as they run on the side of the blade they add heat. It does take more effort to get them running right and not too much tension. With small blades, it is very easy to over tension. The table is flat, the guides work great and other than the fact that the tilt mechanism broke, I'd buy it again. It's got the enclosed base and a 1 hp motor. NO CHINESE saws. My first bandsaw was Chinese and I got what I paid for it. $100. Nothing on it was precision. It had a table that wasn't flat and the tires on the wheels were junk. So, I agree with you completely. If it's not a well known mfgr. don't mess around with it. Even then you can get bit. Like the Excaliburs that came out of China.
