Macman
1: I can turn a tight corner 2: Spiral blades are not so bad 3: Thin ply is much more difficult to cut accurately. 4: Check a pattern before cutting. 5: A blade snapping is scary 6: mdf cuts well but the dust is awful 7: A smaller piece of wood is easier to cut with. 8: Hegner blade clamps are brilliant. Had a wee play this afternoon with a couple of Halloween patterns. Mainly for the curves and points. Used a spiral which snapped half way around. My first snapped blade and the noise made me jump. Fitted a flat and continued on with the witch. I used a thin bit of ply and it was difficult to hold back the blade All in all a good day. meflick, Roberta Moreton, OCtoolguy and 2 others

Rockytime
I agree with number three. I was cutting 1/4" BB with a #1 blade and it cut like a house-a-fire. The small blades are very aggressive on thinner woods for me and I find it hard to stay on the line. Mostly I cut 1" pine. Not very pretty but fun to cut. Looks like you are cutting very well. Now try cutting a perfect circle. 2: Spiral blades are not so bad Despite what many scrollers may think. 3: Thin ply is much more difficult to cut accurately. Hence the reason most folks stack cut multiple layers. 4: Check a pattern before cutting. Good idea to plan your cuts before making them. 5: A blade snapping is scary Don't worry, you'll get used to it. 6: mdf cuts well but the dust is awful Paints well, stays nice and flat too, but I still don't like to cut it. 7: A smaller piece of wood is easier to cut with. But too small puts the fingernails at risk. 8: Hegner blade clamps are brilliant. Excalibur owner here, so I'll have to take your word for it. I cut 2.5mm bamboo ply with a 2/0 reverse tooth blade lots of times, never had a problem. Just takes practice, and more practice. Sycamore67
I do not have problems with thin wood or plywood. I typically use a #3 FD UR blade but turn the speed way down. You can easily control the cutting by changing the speed. SCROLLSAW703, stoney and Scrappile
