orangeman
For those who use the Duck brand shelf paper here is some advice: Don't wait to remove it from the wood! I left some on the wood for over a month and it was very difficult to remove. It even lifted up some wood fibers! From now on I will always cut and remove the same day! bb OCtoolguy and SCROLLSAW703 1
jollyred
I have had that problem with all of the adhesives I have used to attach the patterns. The shelf paper seems to remove easier after some time than the others I have used. I just removed some that had been on the wood for almost a month, and didn't have too much problem with it. However, I usually do try to get it off in a day or two at the most. amazingkevin, SCROLLSAW703 and OCtoolguy
JTTHECLOCKMAN
Will happen with painters tape too. I think I mentioned this one other thread some time ago. Also sometimes I find myself stacking weights on a piece to keep from warping before cutting and this adds to the problem. kmmcrafts
Yep... heat gun user here as well... but that said.. I've found also that they peel off harder in different temps.. If you don't have a heat gun... just set it out in the sun for 20 minutes or so.. that will also help some.. or the wife's hair dryer... JackM
When doing fretwork, I sand it to 220 then spray a coat or two of shellac. Then apply painters tape, spray the pattern and apply it. Have removed patterns after a few months with no problems of fibers lifting. Jack SCROLLSAW703, amazingkevin and OCtoolguy 1

I dip most my projects in Danish oil and the sealing of the wood with shellac would prevent that. But if it works for you then good to go. Many ways of getting the job done. Thanks for sharing. Rockytime
Funny, but I had several scraps covered with Duck brand for several months. It peeled off just fine. SCROLLSAW703
kmmcrafts
I've notice that temperature and humidity swings plays a role in how easy the stuff comes off.. I've had projects that the shelf liner was on for several months..peeled right off.. same shelf liner roll on another project around the same time frame just cooler temps came off harder than heck.. had to use the heat gun on it as the sun wasn't out and was rainy.. these couple of projects I applied the liner to the same day same roll.. and both had sat dang near a year.. I just did the cutting a couple weeks ago.. on both.. I don't know what it could be if it wasn't something with the rain or temps..or both.. because they both was applied to BB ply too.. nothing was different other than the temp / rain.. when I went to peel it off
