malc
Any tricks to reduce blade slipping? Some blades seem to stay put while other come loose no matter how tight I try to get the jaws. Malc
Travis
There's a couple things you could do: First, I'd take out the screw that clamps your blade. Sometimes during the manufacturing process, there is a little nib on the end of the screw. This nib will prevent the full surface area of the screw bottom to come in contact with the blade. If you see a nib, you can take a fine file or some sandpaper and smooth that out. Second, when they ship scroll saw blades, they'll coat them with a bit of oil to prevent rust. Take a some sandpaper and fold it over. Then slip the end of your blade between the sandpaper and give it a few scuffs (pinch the sandpaper and pull out the blade). This will remove some of that oil and rough up the end a bit so the clamping screw has something to bite onto. Hope this helps.
amazingkevin
Hi malc.lot's of us make the mistake of tightening the blade holder but forget to tighten the blade tention to guitar string tight before turning on the machine.I still do it as my mind is to just keep scrolling ,never mind the details.Maybe this could be the cause of the problem your haveing. If the tention is not up to snuff it will hammar it'self right out of the holder. Sawer
This maybe a little late but, if you tighten to much the blade will pull loose, most of the time you are one click too much. The other posts need to followed also.
jjammo1
What saw are you using? Had that problem with my previous saw. Had to replace it. Parts not available. You can't get parts to fix the tensioner on the Craftsman 18". It's a good saw except for that, BUT, it's my backup now as I finally got my DW788.
