Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Well a friend of my sons was getting rid of this old band saw from the 70's and wanted to know if I wanted it. He was going to trow it out. So I took it. Free. It was all rusted and the blade wasn't adjusted right at all. He said he had it for years but never used it. Well I took it and took the top off and wire brushed it with my drill to get all the rust off and then sanded it with 400 grit sandpaper to get all the scratches out. Took the blade guides off and oiled them up and readjusted the blade guides and put it all back together. Now it works like a charm. Thinking about painting the stand a different color.

After all that time and after sitting unused, how are the tires? I'd think they might oughta be replaced. You got a heck of a deal on that saw. That's back when they were well made.

Everything looks good, even the wheels. Cut a little wood today to try it out. So far so good.

Hey, if the blade tracks ok and it doesn't come off, that's great. That is a great little bandsaw. I'd trade mine for it any day.

The blade tracks good now. It was way off the wheel when I got it and the blade wasn't,t even in the lower guides. Had to adjust all that so now it tracks right in the middle of the wheel.

Have to say I'm jealous. That's a great looking saw. I bought my band saw used, an old Craftsman, for $100. I'd trade it for yours any day. When I was just starting I bought a 4" jointer with that same manufacturer plate other than the serial # of course. Built like a tank but I've used it like 3 times, just takes up space.

need to replace the steel blade guides with cool blocks

I bought a set of those cool blocks. They work great. I experimented one time with some hard wood that I cut and shaped to fit in the holders. I moved them in real close to the blade enough so that the blade actually cut itself into them. I had them set clear out to the front of the teeth so the blade was more or less "encased" in the wood. I greased them up and used them for quite a while. They worked pretty well.

Where would I get some and how do you find the right size.

I think they are all the same size Ralph. Pretty sure you can buy them most anywhere. Amazon has them I'm sure. Just buy the ones marketed for the Delta saws. If I recall, they are 1/2" square.

Here ya go....
