ChelCass Posted December 27, 2018 Report Posted December 27, 2018 What a fantastic gift for a grandmother. Thanks for sharing, you did a great job on it. Quote
Scrappile Posted December 27, 2018 Report Posted December 27, 2018 You really did a great job on that. What is the beautiful wood you used and how did you do the lettering on the names and dates? Quote
amazingkevin Posted December 27, 2018 Report Posted December 27, 2018 A much needed project for the card and gift bearers to own.Make sure your name is added first, lol Well done sir!! Quote
neal560sl Posted December 27, 2018 Author Report Posted December 27, 2018 Thanks for the comments. The main piece is cherry, lettering for months and the disc's are rock maple. The printing on the disc's was done with text in Inkscape then flipped horizontally, printed with a laser printer, then ironed on the disc's with a round accessory that goes on my wood burning tool. meflick and Scrappile 1 1 Quote
smitty0312 Posted December 27, 2018 Report Posted December 27, 2018 Beautiful piece......great talent and it shows! Quote
Tomanydogs Posted December 28, 2018 Report Posted December 28, 2018 I need one of those. You did a beautiful job. Also love your colour choice. Quote
Rohn Posted December 28, 2018 Report Posted December 28, 2018 Wow! That is a great idea. Real nice work too. Quote
thatknobtony Posted December 28, 2018 Report Posted December 28, 2018 That is very nice, plus it must be nice having a honey do list that involves shop time. My list always seems to involve shopping. Lol Quote
flarud Posted December 28, 2018 Report Posted December 28, 2018 Looks good! I have made 2 of those in the last few years, one for my wife that has birthdays and anniversaries on it. The birthdays have round shapes and the anniversaries have hearts. Made one for my Mom a few years ago also. I didn't have any scroll work on mine like you have. I'm closing this thread fast so the wife doesn't see it! I know that she will want another one. Quote
Rockytime Posted December 28, 2018 Report Posted December 28, 2018 Terrific project. That must have taken some time. The cutting is nice but those lazer tags look great. Quote
wombatie Posted December 29, 2018 Report Posted December 29, 2018 An excellent looking project. Did you cut all the circles yourself or did you buy them from somewhere? Marg Quote
neal560sl Posted December 29, 2018 Author Report Posted December 29, 2018 I cut the circles using a hole saw with the center drill bit removed. I did it on my Shopsmith in horizontal boring mode, that allows me to use both the fence and table to support the wood and keeps it from moving all over the place without the center bit. I did them in a thicker piece of wood, then sliced them out the thickness I needed on the table saw. wombatie 1 Quote
