First - Scroll Saw Challenge

Well I plow snow for a liven and I don't get to play in the shop much during the snow season. But once in a while something comes up that gets me in there. A retired coworker sent his sister in law to see me. She was expecting their first grand child and really wanted to have a sign in plaque made before the baby shower which was only a few days before the baby was supposed to be here. I told her I would try to get it done for her but lets pray for no snow. Well she must have done just that because I had just enough time to get it done for her.  Well I'm happy to say the parents loved it and they had a beautiful baby girl and they are bringing it back to me to put her name and date on it. I love when people get excited over stuff that I make.

I have don three one I already posted under just for fun. The other two are projects for the SSWWC magazine I can't post those yet but they are pretty cool. I have also been busy restoring a Heron chain saw carving that we bought at a Fox Chapel open house in 2014. It is outside all summer long so it needed sprucing up. I brought it back to this.

Here are my first projects of the year.  The hippo was my first done with my old band saw.  The bird was my first done with my new Delta scroll saw.

This was my first that I completed. I have a tendency to have multiple projects going at once. Luckily I finished before my Wen developed some serious vibrations caused by a bad bearing. My new Delta should be arriving Wednesday.

This was designed by Chachi and it is the second such plaque that I havemade.

The foreground is 3mm thick cherry and the background is 7mm thick Jatoba.

 

I've done both hip and knee replacements. Hope your recovery is going well. I'm sure your therapist will appreciate the thought and effort.

This is my first project of the new year.....I did it because I had been reading about segmentation scrolling for a while.

After doing a few smaller pieces to work out the bugs, i tackled this piece. I was very pleased with the result, and have gone on to do several other animals since then, including, wolves, lions, bears, horses, and a couple more.

I intend to sell them at fairs and festivals this summer.

This was a birthday gift for my sister' in laws husband who is a very keen  supporter of the Manly sea eagles (Sydney rugby league side). It took me some time to do as I had to match the colours & also the letters were cut out first then glued on.The rest was segmentation. I also made the frame. Cheers Peter

Here's my first project of 2019. Took my quite some time to find a pattern I liked for this project. Found it hand painted on a drum in a museum, snapped a pic and I was off and running. This is the 3rd of 4. Now to locate the pattern for #4

The critters are walnut inlaid into a basswood blank.

This is a Steve Good pattern. We were on vacation at an RV park and I downloaded this pattern and used their woodshop to make this good luck symbol.
