cjswoodcrafts
Hey Rob, Welcome to the village, the best forum on the web, sorry bout your accident, i am also disabled, been so for about 3-4 yrs now. I have a craftsman 16 inch scroll, works well, good saw to start with, I hear good things about the dewalt, $$$$ there. i started out with a Ryobi from home depot, had to take it back 3 times to exchange cause of parts missing, or the blade holder screw would break, i would suggest not to go with Ryobi for a scroll saw, my opinion tho. Any ways welcome, have a ?? just ask, great folks in here. jim

Lastchance
Keep an eye on craigslist.... I have seen good Dewalt set ups going for around $200. (They where around $300 just 6-8 weeks ago) People needing money for the holidays I guess. (wish i would have waited a bit longer) Just a thought Chance
wedo scroll
Hi Rob, welcome to the village! You're not a Louisville fan are you? So you're looking for a saw? My advice is to check on craigslist and ebay to see what is used (and still a good saw). Then try it. Watch for too much vibration (use the nickel test), bad sounding noises, too much side play, too much wear. You should be able to find something to you liking in the $100-200 range. Look around at this and other scrolling sites for their comments on the saws. There's lots of information out on the web about them. amazingkevin
Hello Rob, how you doing now, accidents are pretty much all down hill if you let it.I have been after the delta ss350 you 3 plus years now.I've seen words and micro letters done on them that make me sigh!there a few members here that have them. the quick set 2 blade holders are really nice ,no foolin around to do this and that ,just open and close very fast.I just want to scroll and forget about playing with allen wrenchs and rear blade tention adjustments.lock and load .that's what makes my day.I used the ss250 for a year and wore it out . that one took the allen wrench to loosen the bottom blade.$50.00 bucks for a chinese used scroll saw is my limit.most of the low price ones are chinese.Get your feet wet and try one ,there not that bad .But once you taste sweet it's tough to use a lesser quality one.Keychains ,names and dog stuff sold the best for me.Welcome home This is the place to be for novice and seasoned scrollers .Everyday i learn something in scrollsawvillage(ssv).Nose around everywhere to see what in there is a quick way to know whats available to you for use.open up your own user gallery right away to store photos, patterns and projects . :)Double your money and then some by makeing a dollar puzzle. amazingkevin
Goodn hunting Rob, Most places want 15 to 20 bucks for a foot switch.I found at big lots one for 4.00.i bought 6 of them and am real happy .all my power table top tools are foot operated now .It's a nice creature comfort.I wish i could find a low price laser guide for the drill press,i know you don't need one but everybody likes toys. You'll need a dremil plunge drill press as table drill drill presses only let you get in about 8" from the edge of your projects.Anything but the dremil is going to cost quite a bit more .I happy for you on the ss350!The top arm on this saw has no lube point so try to figure out about where it will be so you can drill a small hole to shoot some lube in once in a while to make it last. It's all ways the top arm that suffers from strain and it's the weakest point.Down load the schematic of the ss350 so you can see where i'm talking about.there's a linking arm connecting the bottom arm to the top arm and where it connects to the top arm is where it will need lube. With out a blade in your saw ,lift up and down on the top arm,to feel for play . it should be minimal.1/8th ".when it gets to 1/4" play you'll have to cut your blades shorter to make up for the sloppyness of the wear of the top arm in the back of the machine.look for the picture of your saw guts at "www.replacement parts .com ".hope this helps to make your saw last as long as possible.Carefull with the quick set blade holders on the ss250,ss350 saws.Too tight and it will explode apart and you'll never find the little spring,or the wire clip that holds it all together.when i lost mine i used rubberbands to hold it together and it worked better than the factory set up. if there's a will there's a way.Where part 35 meets part 36 is where you put lube! That's the trouble spot! KYCustomScroller
I just looked at the saw and it has 3 grommets that can be removed for lubrication, top arm, middle of the back of the machine & 1 at the lower back of the machine
