Popular Post Rockytime Posted January 8, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted January 8, 2019 Mahendra was kind enough to create this pattern of my son-in-law's parents. His mother passed away several months ago. Cut two up from 1/8" BB. Finished with 50/50 BLO. I experimented with several blades. What worked the best was a #1 Olson blade. With a fresh blade which was fairly aggressive I cut bold areas first. When the blade started to wear out I cut the detail areas like the eyes. It cut less aggressively but had good control. Rob Posted January 8, 2019 Report Posted January 8, 2019 Beautiful cutting Les. I don't recall seeing the original photograph but I don't need to. That is as good as any photograph! Congrats to Mahendra too for the pattern. Rob Quote
Tomanydogs Posted January 8, 2019 Report Posted January 8, 2019 Great cutting Les. Looks just like the photograph. Your son-in-law will be very proud of the portrait. Great work of the pattern Mahendra. Quote

JimErn Posted January 8, 2019 Report Posted January 8, 2019 Great cutting. I keep a scrap of wood nearby, and when I insert a new blade I make an inch long cut in it before returning to the work piece, seems to help me with that initial aggressiveness you mentioned Quote
Jim McDonald Posted January 8, 2019 Report Posted January 8, 2019 Great job by both involved. Love the idea of using the blade two ways. Quote
