kmmcrafts
Is there a way to search the pattern section of the site either by file name or even by designer.. I made this clock and posted a photo on a FB group.. others wanting the pattern and I know it was grandpa that designed it.. as I have the pattern.. but not sure where I got it from... I know he post a lot of designs here. and was looking to see if this was actually where I found it.. I just don't know how to go about searching for it or what category would be best to look under.. there is no clock category.. when I search something it seems to put all topics and searches the whole site... I'm only looking to search patterns.. OCtoolguy
flarud
Can't help you with your question,, but when I print out a pattern I always print out a second one and write "Master" on it. That way I always have one. OCtoolguy

kmmcrafts
LOL, I have the pattern... I'm just trying to help some others locate it at the source.. I have a copy but it's not my pattern to share.. I know it was done by Grampa in 09.. he post patterns here a lot... I thought maybe the people wanting the pattern might come here to get it IF it's here.. however I wanted to search it out to see if it is actually here..BUT... have no idea how to search the patterns section without going through every category to find a pool clock.. LOL what section would you search under for this? Is there a section for each designer so I could just go through Grampas album so to speak or am I just going to send everyone that wants the pattern on a goose chase like I already did.. because I had them searching for the wrong designer, LOL.. I'd give a copy of mine to them but it's not my design to give away..even though the design was on a free site etc.. I still feel that is wrong... spirithorse
Hi, Kevin If you go to the pattern section and type in a search you should get a drop down menu asking what areas to search, including search only the pattern section. I did NOT find this pattern in the pattern section though. God Bless! Spirithorse
flarud
Ah,, now I understand you. It is a cool pattern.
meflick
Kevin, I think I found the thread where Grandpa may have originally shared the pattern in the New Patterns subsection from Dec. 2009 here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/1760-pool-and-bowling-clocks/?tab=comments#comment-10527 However, when you click on the pattern file name, you get an error message that the page doesn’t exist. I think at some point, the Village moved forum site locations and I am not sure when that was. If it was after 2009, then the links are often lost with such a switch. Perhaps you could reach out to Grandpa, explain to him, and ask if he would care to put the pattern in the Patterns area for others to be able to get since it appears to not be there. EDITED to add: pattern is found in the Patterns section here in the Village - see next note. meflick
Actually Kevin @kmmcrafts I found the pattern in the pattern sections. It is in the subsection “Sports and Games” scroll down a way on the first page, it is titled “pool clock.” It is by Grandpa. I manually searched the pattern sections and decided sports and games was a good place to check (after I checked utilitarian.) I am on my iPad, and couldn’t find it trying to do an actual “search” for it. I did find Grandpa’s original thread in New Patterns using the search tool. perhaps, @Travis can explain how to use search better for patterns or how or why this doesn’t show in a search. the pattern is about 15 or so down on this link. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/category/18-sports-games/ Edited January 14, 2019 by meflick NC Scroller

You sure are good at tracking down patterns.. I think this must be about the 5th or 6th pattern tracking you've done for me... LOL Awesome job.. JTTHECLOCKMAN
I have this type pattern done by someone else but would have to look it up as to who it may be. That is nice too. Now I see the rack and am guessing you added the table as your own design Kevin?? Edited January 14, 2019 by JTTHECLOCKMAN
JimErn
I have no idea, but when you find out where please post that info here, I would like to have the pattern too ROFL Finally read the rest of the thread {sigh} Edited January 14, 2019 by JimErn meflick and kmmcrafts 1

I did this several years ago and just run across the pictures the other day. Shared it on a FB group and as always someone wanted the design. It fits the theme and takes the pattern a step up. I always believe when you do things like this it shows your creative side and people do zone in on that. It makes this project complete as opposed to just the rack with the clock. I would like to see you do this kind of stuff more often. Open up and get creative. You obviously have the talent. Now you will probably say that it takes more time. Yes but that same clock would only sell for half that price without the table. You can justify a larger asking price when details like that are added to a basic clock pattern. Just a thought. kmmcrafts
spirithorse
Thanks for all the effort @meflick I wonder why a search of Pool, Clock, Billiards, etc did NOT find the pattern while checking the pattern section? I did not want the pattern but, tried to help Kevin. You did well and want you to know your time and efforts are appreciated. God Bless! Scrappile
I don't think the search works well in the pattern area. Maybe it is because the patterns are like pictures and it doesn't search the words in pictures, I don't know, but I have not had any real luck searching patterns or galleries. Maybe if the pattern makers added tag words or something, search would work. meflick
spirithorse
@Scrappile Paul, you're just totally looney (According to your avatar status), I agree the search engine hasn't helped me much either. I have also thought that better names for the patterns or tags for the patterns might help. God Bless! Spirithorse meflick

Scrappile
This begs the question ( @Travis ) can anyone add tags to the patterns? My thought is when someone finds a pattern that they want to download and use, if they could add tag word(s) to it, then when they show the finished project, and are acknowledging the pattern maker, they could also state the pattern can be found in the library using tag word(s) === whatever tag they gave it. Over time, it would really make it easier for people to find patterns. Person could add pertinent tag words as they are just browsing also... Just to help the search function. Just a thought... good or bad.
Travis
Hi All. You can do a search. After you do the search, you can refine by clicking More Search Options and choosing a specific section. In this case, it would be Images. This encompasses the Pattern Library as well as the User Gallery (They're basically the same software...Pattern Library it technically just a category of the gallery system). So if I was searching for this, my keyword would probably be "Pool" and the result would be here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/search/?q=pool&type=gallery_image Now, this is very dependent on how folks upload the picture or pattern. It'll search using the filename, title, description, or any other meta information provided with the image. If it's not labeled well, it won't find it. That's why I try to categorize the patterns. But some of those categories are pretty big...LOL. I hope this helps. Scrappile and meflick
Scrappile
@TravisAnd there is the pattern. We must have posted at the same time. I still think my suggestion has some merit, if it is doable.
meflick
So if you post this link, http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/image/909-pool-clock/ it will take you directly to the image wanted - the pool clock.
kmmcrafts
Thanks to everyone that had tried to help out in searching for the pattern.. I searched for it for quite some time but I really didn't know what category to look under... while I guess pool is considered a sport.. for some reason I just didn't think to look there.. I think of sports as football, baseball, hockey etc etc .. and would have never thought to look there... I see there are actually a lot of clock patterns mixed throughout the site.. but searching for clock patterns you basically have to search every category to find them all... sort of the same thing with ornaments.. as there are religious themed ornaments.. and also wildlife, word art and other themed ornaments.. so basically you just have to search out throughout the whole library to find something.. I typically save all patterns to my computer and back them up several times... If I cut a pattern they go into a special file location for ones I have cut.. this way if I've cut it.. I have the pattern.. but telling people where they can get the pattern is a tough one because I've grabbed patterns for 14 years from various sites.. many of which no longer exist.. Big reason I rarely post things I've made in the past.. and only show things I just made because I know where I got the design from if I just made it, LOL.. Anyway, Thank you all again for your efforts in helping find this design.. meflick

Thank you JT, I do like doing different and unique stuff like this.. and the more time it takes doesn't bother me a bit.. because the more time = more money.. I've don't quite a lot of this type of custom twist on patterns quite a lot.. I just don't usually show them off as much... In fact I've never posted my works on forums or message boards until recently since I've gotten active here on the village... most things just went to my website and sold never to be seen again.. I do have pictures somewhere, LOL I should dig through some of that stuff one day..
JTTHECLOCKMAN
Like me Kevin I never took photos of many things I made over the years until I started posting to forums when I got a computer. I use to take photos to make a album and used that to show clients. Lot different today. If I had to show some 800 + items I would shoot myself. I dig them out when things come up and may warrant a shot to show them. Yes customizing things make them more yours too so I like that and that is why I do it. That is why many times I will ask for a pattern here but my thoughts are to add or subtract things so it is not exactly what I asked for. I can improvise a few things but drawing things is not a thing I do well. kmmcrafts
