sharp blade
Hi folks, I am glad I found this forum. I am wanting to do portraits and need to find the best and EASIEST program to do it with. I have been scrolling for a hobbie since 96 I was in a handcrafters guild for several years till my schedule was changed by a plant shutdown. Now not as much time to have fun but still want to. I hope to make many new friends. Thanks Sharp blade

Oges
Welcome to the Village There are a few programs out there that will allow you to create patterns, none of them are 'EASY' they get you so far, you then need to edit the pattern etc to make it a workable pattern. I use Photoshop elements and have a basic tutorial at home that I could put up if needed that shows you how to go about making a pattern But if you go to the Village University you will find very good instructions on using GIMP and Inkscape http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=
Lastchance
Welcome to the village. I use MS Paint, paint shop pro, corel draw and picasa (for photo editing) none of them are easy... picasa is free at download.com and is better than Paint shop or many other pay programs as far as I am concerned. I am still in the learning curve on pattern making. everything needs to be edited even after you use the programs. Some need to be run through a couple of programs to get the right extension and or "look" that you are after. Really wish there was an easy program, but if there was, then everyone would be making patterns. Chance

WigWag Workshop
Hello from Central Ohio. The folks here are very friendly and helpful. I have not used this software, but I have been told it's a great piece of software for working on Portraits. It's called Coyote Stencil Shop, .
