The dust collection is the same as the Ex came with, and most people removed in a short time. Little pieces of waste get caught in the clear plastic membrane and plugs it. And, when I saw, most of the dust is on top, which if you use the blower, it get blown away. That is not dust extraction... I am a little more disappointed in Mr. Good's review than the saw. I have a lot of respect for Steve, but this time I felt like I was watching a sales promotion other than a review. A person new to scrolling may get the impression this saw has a lot of new features, when the only new thing is the clamps. But that said, I am sure it is a great saw, just like the Ex has been. The clamps appear to be an upgrade from the old style, maybe someday I will get a set for my Seyco. I do love the color. I wish they had increased the table to size like the Seyco. I'm thinking that the company that got the new contract for making all of these saws is doing very well right now. I find two things that makes the saw more attractive than the King or the "New " Excalibur... one being the "New" Excaliburs are now made in China rather than Twain.. The Pegas is made in the same factory as the old EX was and the New King name still made there.. I've read some ( quite a few ) bad reports on the "New" excalibur... so that in itself makes this saw more attractive than the other saws.. Now the King is still made in the Twain factory.. but still comes with the old style excalibur blade chucks.. and to upgrade you're looking at adding $100 to the price.. but if the Pegas come standard with it.. and... is in the same price range.. well... I'd be buying the Pegas... The color is a bonus to me as well but function and quality is the top priority.. and I think Pegas will have that.. as the past Excalibur's did... As for Steve's review... I agree and have thought the same way with the last few reviews he's done.. mainly since Bearwood is sponsoring him now.. Bearwood wanted to gain his followers as customers.. I don't blame them.. Steve has a huge following... I think Bearwoods could better there service and gain business.. no matter what you're selling..timely deliveries and great customer service can make or break your business... I am just curious, I am not in the market for any new saw, but I like to follow them. The only bad I have read isabout right out of the box set up/adjustments. But I do not think that is a flaw in the saw, that is a flaw in the seller. You don't have the Seyco pre-test and setup you use to get with Excalibur. Are there other difficulties with it? kmmcrafts Posted January 28, 2019 Report Share Posted January 28, 2019 Paul, most of what I read was bad vibration and loud... also a few clamping / tension issue... but.. nothing real solid issues that was strictly the saw being defective... most likely user error but.. I don't know that either way... I do agree with the fact that Ray is the one that made these saws so popular with his setting them up before shipping them... Even when I first got mine I was like this thing is junk... but you know me I'm going to mess and tinker with it... runs real smooth now.. been cutting on it today I personally wouldn't be afraid to buy any one of them whether Twain or China made.. but many expect a tuned saw out of the box.. and are not mechanically inclined enough to tune it themselves..Just my opinion.. I truthfully cannot recommend the Seyco as a "better" saw over the other Ex types, but I can recommend the service from Seyco over the ones that sell this type saw and the service from Advanced Machinery (Hegner). I am most satisfied with my Hawk and am not in the market for another saw. BUT if I were the video would tell me a lot. There are a lot of suggestions on this forum, and I enjoy reading each one, but for a newbie the video is great. Rolf Posted January 28, 2019 Report Share Posted January 28, 2019 One thing that IS different is the pin that snaps into the most used degree locations when tilting the table. From what I have read you square the table precisely to the table, once that is done you can tweak the pin location to pop into the 90 Deg hole. I bought my EX before GI brought out those features on the Excaliburs. It's a pretty saw, and if my old EX dies, it may be the one to consider. I wonder if Ray will sell and support these as well as his brand. The problem with the SeyCo is that it won't do much more than 30° angle and I need the full 45°. I get a discount because I give classes and demonstrations at my local woodworking store. $50 gift certificate each time so I can pay for some of it that way. Yep, this guy (said with 2 thumbs pointing back at me) LOL Discounted pre-order price was enticing. I'll give it a shot. If it lasts 2 years for me, at this price, it saves me a little money compared to wearing out a DW every 12-15 months. We shall see. I guess I won't see the saw for about 6 weeks. No rush... heck, I haven't cut a single puzzle in 2 months due to being so busy with day job and other business. I really like my Excalibur now that I have the Pegas clamps on it.. Do wish it had more table in front of the blade though.. only like 4" from front of blade to edge of table.. DeWalt is like 6.5".. Some time ago I put a 1/8" piece of masonite on the table, countersinking the holes for the bolts. Since then others have used double sided tape and it seem to work too, would have been easier. Would not be hard to extend the table doing that, probably 1/4 thick if extending the top. The shiny side of the masonite waxes up real good too. I did it cause the piece I was cutting, fretwork, would get hung up when a cut out piece would drop and catch in one of the vacuum holes preventing me from moving the piece I was cutting. I don't know if it was damaged in shipping or is was defective. I messed with it for about three weeks and finally returned it. Pre ordered my Pegas yesterday. Hope it goes better. Glad I have a Hegner that just keeps on chugging away. It is a great dependable saw but I want to have two saws. Nice to have a saw you can top feed for big projects. When doing inlay work it is nice to leave one at an angle. I preordered mine at D&D. Hope we are both pleased with them. I thought about a Seyco but I do not like the fact that the tilt mechanism is left off on it. I can't see any advantage of leaving it off other than it made it cheaper to make.Ray has definitely got a great reputation for first class customer service.
