Just doing the cutting is not the end of the project.  This took a tumble and didn't survive.  I had thought of gluing the pieces back together - if I could find them.  There is only so much time this old guy is willing to spend on the floor looking for pieces.  And that's why we have a scrap bin for firewood.  🙄

Of course, none of you all ever have these kind of problems - right???

God will wait patiently on you until you find the pieces. I'm sure.

Sorry that happened. That had to be frustrating. Doing my Intarsia Eagle, one of the claws just didn't fit right no matter how I sanded it. Decided to recut it--still not right, did another one--it was perfect. Had to sand it down to height on my belt sander. Thought I'd be smart and get a tight hold on it with a pair of pliers--nope, shot that thing across the basement, bouncing off walls, couldn't find it. Did one more, wasn't perfect but worked.

Yeah, done that a couple times, LOL.. one time was when the product had been sold and I was packaging it up for mailing it out.. Nothing like rushing out to the shop to get another made right away so I can mail it out in a timely manor, LOL  Also done the custom pattern for someone with the name spelled wrong and didn't know it until I sent them pictures of the finished piece.. LOL

When I was doing the compound cuts for the votive holder that I just finished, I started out using aromatic cedar because I couldn't find any red cedar. Well, I got a couple of them cut and then I ran into a piece that had a definite color change between the red and white wood. When I took it out of the tape, the piece literally split right along that color line. And all the rest of my wood had that same color line running through it. So, I had to change over to mahogany and recut all the pieces that I had already cut. But, as Stoney says, it's called practice. I love it.

So what you're saying, CEDAR in general is malicious and vindictive and if its not killing you with pollen, its splitting your work.  LOL

Not at all. I just couldn't find any "red" cedar that has more consistent color/grain. Not sure what you mean by pollen killing you, etc. Did I miss something?

Cedar fever is raging here in the mid-south.  At times you can see the pollen pods on the cedar trees popping and cedar dust billowing out on the wind.  There were calls to 9-1-1 reporting fires in parks and ranches it was so bad.  Texass cedar pollen season (December-ish through March-ish) royally sucks.  Allegra only does so much to help against it.

Got it. Now I understand your post. I had no idea about the cedar pollen season. All we ever have around here is mold and mildew and Santa Ana winds.
