You would, being from Georgia and all. 😉☺️ - Me not so much - too many red teams in the SEC. 😉😜 Now if it was in Orange, I could go for that. 😍  Course, I bought the used Excalibur I did in part because it was Purple, my other favorite color. ☺️ Thanks for sharing the tip.

While the saws are basic same design.. there is more to it than just color.. such as.. blade clamps and detents in the angle adjuster.. some are gear crank to change angle while others just loosen the knob and you manually angle by hand rather than cranking the knob.. so as to not miss represent these saws.. they are not all the same.. while most of the main design of the saw is the same they all have different feature.. A BIG plus on the Pegas is the standard pegas clamp.. and the detents in the angle for the more popular angles.. Sure they are the same saw frame.. just different options and colors to choose from.. price points might sway ones opinion.. for me personally.. price being equal in all saws.. I'd go with Pegas simply for the better clamps..

@meflick Hawks are also orange... LOL  

Orange paint = quality saw.. when will the other manufactures catch on to this 😂

The older Excaliburs didn't have the stops a popular angles?  I had one but can't remember.  I really don't see that as big deal, I like the turning the knob to move the head, but on inlay and such the degree will very with the stock and the thickness of wood.  And it is a very shallow degree.  What degrees on a scroll saw do you use often that stops would be a good thing?  Not trying to be smart, I just got to thinking about it and I am drawing a blank.  But, I am very anxious for this saw.  Swiss have a reputation of good products and I think they will demand a high standard from whomever is actually making the saws for them.  Do they farm their clamps out to be made by someone else..?  Anyway, I'm anxious to read reviews, by actual scrollers.  I think they will be good.  @Dave Monk will tell us straight!  If I had the money/space, I order one.

The popular angles is a good point.. Personally, since 2005 when I started scroll sawing.. I've only angles the saw maybe 5-6 times.. so yes.. not a factor for me.. I do like the knob turning feature of my Excalibur way over the way Hawk and DeWalt have theirs.. I'll say my Hawk is probably the worst angle design as it always catches / binds ( not smooth and easy to move )  but I'm not sure how the new one will be.. I'll tell you if I ever receive it, LOL 

The blade chucks / clamps is what is most attractive to me.. provided the price point make it a value to buy the Pegas.. The upgrade for my Excalibur was well worth the extra $100.. as I was about ready to trash the saw and send it to someone else to deal with.. those clamps made the saw very much more user friendly.. I think I would have got used to the stock ones eventually.. as I'm sure it was just a learning curve as was my Hawks..

Okay, I watched the video,  Seyco came up with the magnetic top, it is standard on their saws.  It is not zero clearance, but I say that is the bases for this tip....I will say, I did not care for the magnetic top, not sure why, but I gave mine away.  I have heard other Seyco owners like it.  But more importantly, that little hole will not stay little for long.  I use zero clearance on my saws.  I have learned that the little hole gets enlarged by the blade movement and blade breakage, and forgetting to set the tension before starting the saw.... That is why I built my aux, table tops so I can use inserts that I can make and change out as I wear the old ones out.  I do not have to pay +/- $20 for a new magnetic top.  Attaching the top is easy, on this type saw, four counter sunk holes, using the original screws that hold the real table on.  Some just use double sided tape to hold the aux top on.  That seem to work good. 

You can see by the picture how the hole get enlarged after some use.

A member of our scroll saw club is considering a Pegas saw.  I'm kind of anxious to get some direct feedback on these.  I'm not in the market.  My Ex-21 is only a few years old and I don't expect to be buying another saw for a long time, if ever.  That said, the Pegas looks like a killer value.  The advertised, introductory price was a couple hundred less than what I paid for my EX.  The blade clamp upgrade included makes it look like a pretty sweet deal.

Setting my angle for inlays  may take me a bit of time to fine tune. It is usually about 1.5 - 2 degrees. I can see where a 90 degree stop might be handy to reset my blade back to 90.

Now, if I could, I WOULD give both a try.  However, how would you suggest that we convince the hubby that  I NEED another scroll saw with 3 on the premises. 😉  2 of which are setup and used in HIS shop that he kindly gave me a corner of.  Plus, he is the one who bought me the Seyco new when they first came out for a gift.  I was going to wait and "see" for a bit and then go for the Hawk or the Hegner maybe, but I couldn't tell him that after he order the Seyco! 😉  So now, I have the Seyco and the purple Excalibur setup in the shop and a Dewalt Type 1 sitting in the garage. 😟

Just a heads up on the Hawk.. If you order a new one now.. by the time you receive it the seyco might be worn out... at least that is sort of how I'm feeling right now about the new Hawk I ordered 6 weeks ago and have not hear or seen anything about the saw short of the automated message with my order details.. You might want to consider the Hegner if you're in a hurry for a saw.. Just sayin..

Heads up on Hegner, if you order a new one it will be there in short order and you will get great help from the seller if you need it.......

The Hegner is to expensive for me to recommend one.  I love mine and if I find the right buy I will get a second one and sell my Seyco.  But anything over $5, I don't give a recommendation.. but I do love mine,, no recommendation, I just really like mine, but you decide for yourself, no matter now much I love mine......😍

Seriously, I know of people that do not like them at all, I think they must weird... but they don't like them.🙄

I am a big supporter of Hawk but I would not do well waiting that long. Have you called them.?

Rolf, I ordered on the 23rd of Dec.. and then I had a question to ask about my old 220VS so I gave them a call about that on the 4th of Jan.. and I mentioned to Nicki that I had a new one on the way.. I only mentioned it because she asked me if I had an account.. so she looked up my account and said something about my saw hasn't shipped out yet.. That was all that was said.. I just went through looking for Iggy's post to see how long it was for him (5 weeks) as I know it was a long time because they was Harvesting etc.. at the time.. I didn't want to call and rush them into getting me a bad product because they was tired and rushed to get it out.. But yeah... I think if they keep this kind of thing up they won't be sellin too many saws for very long.... I love my two Hawks and am looking forward to my new one.. but I'm getting close to pulling the trigger and canceling the order.. $1800 with everything I ordered with it.. I knew going into this that it could take some time just by how Iggys experience was... however.. the excuse at that time was harvesting.. Do they harvest this time of year down there? I don't know I'm not a farmer but up here in MI only thing you could harvest this time of year is snow.. 😂.. My thinking is I doubt they have these ready to ship.. or at least not many of them.. and being Christmas time may have depleted their inventory.. and.. most business's like to have very little inventory at the end of the year for tax reasons.. so.. maybe they are in running a batch of the parts... having bases and frames powder coated etc etc.. Still.. I went into this knowing they was slow at getting them out.. but most probably wouldn't  know this.. a simple email saying something along the lines of being back ordered and will be XX days/weeks before they'd have something ready to mail.. but nothing.. not a word last Sunday was 6 weeks.. My opinion.. if they are going to be more than a couple weeks. they should have this stated on the website where you order.. of coarse..before you place the order.. something in BOLD print on the description page of the saw saying something like.. Saw May take X weeks before we can ship it..  otherwise your guess is mine.. 

I may be stubborn but.. If they can't reach out to me.. the only reaching out to them I will be doing will be to cancel out the order.. there is no reason they can't send out a message saying X amount of time because it's back ordered.. Every other business does this.. My CNC was back ordered.. while I never got any approximation time.. I was told it was back ordered.. I didn't get anything from Hawk other than my automated receipt that I got when I placed the order..  BTW, My CNC showed up in 3 weeks.. and they was REALLY back order.. They sold a lot of these on Black Friday and was back ordered about that time right on through.. I placed my order the Friday before that Sunday that I order the Hawk..

They really need to keep their customers updated. I don't expect next day like Amazon but I do want to be informed of the status of an order. This is a dangerous way to run a business, especially when there are alternatives. If I was younger I would love to design and build saws with all of the features I feel they should have.😁

Kevin, rather than get yourself all worked up over it, why not just give them a call and see what is the hold up. They may have had a few orders in the pipeline prior to yours. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and call them. By waiting to hear from them, you're just getting yourself all wound up inside. You know you want the saw so why not just call them and go on to setting up your new toys?

I have Nicole;s email as she sent me some documents on my 220VS so i replied to the email right after posting this.. I'll wait a couple days for a reply and then I suppose I will give them a call.. I understand what you mean and they have always been great to me with questions and parts.. I get real annoyed with business's that have websites and emails etc because it only takes a min to update someone about their order.. I know they have their hands in multipal stuff.. I do to.. and would almost bet that I get more orders a year than they do on the Hawks and parts.. yet I still manage to send every customer a email after every sale with approximate times of when I will be mailing out their order.. this is 200 plus orders a week starting from Oct. through to the new year.. on top of making my product and and packaging it.. yeah it's a lot of work.. and I'm only one person to answer email questions etc.. so when other business's don't bother.. It make me think my business isn't all that important to them.. It's not about not getting my saw.. I know it'll come sooner or later..  It's more about not giving a crap about the customer.. Then again, they've always been awesome on the phone.. and maybe online selling isn't really their thing.. the website is outdated and they've had products saying pictures coming soon for the three years I've been dealing with them.. I think they " could " have a booming business IF they ran it better... but it could be just a tax write off business for them on one of the other aspects of their business so they really don't care... whatever the case.. it seems as though they really don't care.. Anyway.. I'll give them a few days to respond to the email and then try to call if no reply..

I put down a deposit for the new Pegas.  They're expected to make landfall here in the US in late Feb or early Mar at which point I'll be notified and will pay the balance and then receive the saw.  We shall see...  I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I think to be happy with Bushton, you have to take a very relaxed attitude towards them.  Just be patient, and it will come when it comes.  One of our members visited them at their facility and mentioned they had zero motors on hand.  I don't think they keep a lot of inventory of some parts.  On other things like legs/stands and such, they inherited a large inventory from RBI, so they don't have to make those new yet.  When I ordered my longer BM legs and extra clamps, those came very quickly.

You have to remember, Scroll saws are only one of several Bushton products.  I suspect it is a very small portion of their overall business.  When I was talking to them, they mentioned how they had purchased another company and were now making some custom valve covers.  When they do build saws, they probably build the saws in short production runs, so if that is so, your saw may be built on their next production run.

To be fair, when I purchased my Green EX21 from Seyco, at that time, it took 3 like months as they had zero inventory and were waiting on the next production run and then shipment.

Kevin, That is exactly why I own a Hegner. When I was in the market I would have had to wait a month for one..I had a Hegner in 3 days. I really like the saw.

Well I really am not in any hurry.. not like I don't have a saw or two or five to use 😂.. that said.. why can't they put some sort of info about this on the website..or message a customer with some kind of information..  I think this is my biggest issue about the deal.. 

I wonder if this is how RBI ran the business back in the day? No wonder so many brand new never used old Hawks out there for sale... the folks that ordered them died before they received it..😂 

At least I can joke about it, I'm not really mad.. just annoyed with how they handle informing the customer.. Maybe I should have ordered over the phone and maybe they would have given me some info about how long etc..or at least say it's back ordered.. hearing nothing whatsoever is what has me annoyed.. not the fact it's taking a long time... heck its cold in the shop and I doubt I'd set it up anyway..

Back to the subject of detents, adjustable detents, maybe 3-4 of them would really attract me.  I'd like to be able to set zero degrees, and then a couple of stops left and right of zero.

If the pagas saw detants can adjust all the way down toward zero for small angles, rather just within a range of the presets, 22.5 and 45,  I wish someone would say so in their review

Finally got around to watching Steve's review.  All-in-all, this saw is pretty much exactly the same as my EX-21.  The big difference is the blade clamps.  If they are as good as everyone is saying, then that is a decent upgrade. 

I was surprised that Steve wasn't familiar with the dust collection on the Pegas.  His EX must be older and not include it.  I found it to be more of a pain.  YMMV.  I ended up removing the membrane and the vac hose port.  I've thought of filling the little holes as well.  Small bits get caught in them when doing fretwork.  The whole thing is little more than a nuisance to me and I wouldn't count that feature as a plus.

The fact that this saw is made in the same Taiwan plant that the EX was, has the upgraded blade clamps and is significantly cheaper than my EX was a few years ago, make this a winner and a good value, IMHO.  If I were in the market today, I would seriously consider it.
