Popular Post Denny Knappen Posted February 19, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted February 19, 2019 Another Alex Fox pattern. I increased the pattern by 25% to fit 10" square stock of 1/4" Mahogany. I used FD UR #1 blades. After cutting, I placed the rings inside the outer square and sanded with an RO sander. This made sanding a breeze. Finished with spray Polyurethane Clear Satin. Comments welcome. Falcon, neal560sl, MTCowpoke22 and 8 others 11 Quote
meflick Posted February 19, 2019 Report Posted February 19, 2019 Those baskets look great as all your others have Denny. Clearly, you are on a basket kick right now. Do you find that they are selling in the shop? Time to replace that valentine candy in them and put in Easter candy. Quote

I ordered 4 pieces of 1/4" x 10" x 24" of hardwood four the baskets. I wanted to make the baskets before the material starts to cup. None sold as of yet. Tootsie Rolls maybe. meflick 1 Quote

Scrappile Posted February 20, 2019 Report Posted February 20, 2019 Like to see them in hardwood. Great job on them. You have to work fast if you want to use the wood before it cups. I had a piece of oak 1/4" cup, I straightened it as the directions said. Started sawing "The Last Supper" in it and it cupped again. I straightened I again ( I had only started so not far along), started sawing again, and it cupped again..... Not sure what to do with it now. Quote

Possibly eight bowls, but not sure after cupping. Quote

Dave Monk Posted February 21, 2019 Report Posted February 21, 2019 Very nice job Denny. Could a guy stack cut two at a time? I have never made a basket. Isn't it hard not to get glue all over? Quote

Isn't it hard not to get glue all over? Thanks Dave. Not sure about stack cutting. In some areas it is less than 1/8". As for glue up, I use a drop of glue at the points of contact. There still is a small amount of squeeze out which I clean up before it dries. Dave Monk 1 Quote
