Rolf
Floor underlayment is typically Luan, I just bought a square of it to demonstrate Pyrography. I would only use it as a backer on certain projects. The 1.5mm (1/16) 50" x 50" for $44.70 that equals $2.50 a sq ft. I use that for my 4" x 4" ornaments (30 cents). I sell the ornaments for $10-$12 The 3mm (1/8) is only $15 for the same size sheet. $.60 a sq ft. That is used for larger fretwork projects. It is good one side but I rarely find any football patches on the back. I also pre-sand all of my ply to 320. The 2 x 2 x 1/8 Luan that I bought from Lowes cost me over $4 so not so cheap. kmmcrafts
teachnlearn
Anybody ever try a box of flooring planks and scroll on them. Between clearance, hardwood, vinyl, bamboo, laminate. It would seem to be a local source of cheap cutting wood with look a likes and actual wood. RJF
JimErn
I did, it burns up the blade, the teeth come right off, has to do with the epoxy or whatever they use to make it

They are round shaker boxes a cherry box and a maple rim attached with brass pins holding the rim to the top of the box. The name crown box was coined by Scott Phillips we he was having lunch with John Wilson the shaker box guru at least that's the story John told. I will add pictures when I get my set finished. There was a several people there taking the class so I took mine home to finish. The maple bands were getting stain from the cherry so wanted the white maple rim to be white. The crown term came from the rounded brass pins around the top. Here's a picture without the bottoms or rims. I bough two 1/4" X 2 X 2' regular ply at Lowe's for backers. I will need to sand them, as they are rough. We have 2 Menard's stores, each about 15 miles away. Went to the one that usually has better quality. Their best piece wasn't even good enough to be called fire wood. jerry
Gonzo
Jerry, not sure if you checked the "craft wood" area at Menards. That is where you'll find good BB. Also, 11% off this week.
Woodmaster1
I bought Baltic Birch 1/4" plywood at Johnson's Workbench for 15.95 for a 5'x5' sheet. The Baltic birch is the best I have found. So if your close to South Bend IN or Charlotte MI it's worth the trip. I am about 90 miles from either one. The trip to Charlotte is an easier drive. Lowe's on the other hand takes 10% off of anything in the store for us Veterans without question. They enter your phone # one time and after that, each time you buy anything, you just give your #. I buy 1/4" X 1 1/2" solid oak from Menards. Theirs is better than Lowe's. jerry
