I found a new trick, that might be old hat to some of you, but not to me. By mixing oil based artist paint with natural wood stain, you can create just about any color wood stain you desire. jollyred Posted March 19, 2019 Report Share Posted March 19, 2019 I have used the oil based artist's paints thinned down to a very thin consistency as a stain. This also works with acrylic paints if you don't like the smell of turpentine or paint thinner. By the way, those are some very nice projects. Wood stain comes in a lot of shades......oak, gun stock, maple, etc ......one of the available types of stain is just called "natural" it dont change the shade of the wood.....it just enhances the grain. amazingkevin 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
