Hello from the Islands

Just wanted to say Hello and Aloha to everyone. I am Larry and I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. The wife and I have lived in Hawaii for about 6 years, and yes we love the nice warm tropical breezes that we receive every day. Been woodworking and scrolling for about 30 odd years off and on, and full time scroller for about 20 years. I have tried about everything with a scroll saw, and of late I have been having fun cutting bowls, baskets and boxes on the scroll saw. I am retired so I have plenty of time to spend in the shop. My shop is a 20'X20' metal carport frame that I added 3 sides (the front of my shop is left open...always warm here remember). I have another carport and I am getting ready to double the size of the shop...to many toys...I mean tools.

Thanks for the very nice welcome. Kevin from the way you speak (or write) I would say you have been to the Islands a time or two... Not sure I have done everything in Scrolling or woodworking, in fact I hope I haven't...I just love to learn new ideas or other ways of doing something. For saws, right now I have a 18" Hegner Vir, 22" Hegner belt driven (the one I use most of the time) and another saw I bought at Lowes this year for $80 close out...why, because the table tilts both ways and the Hegner does not. For that price I was willing to give it a ride...not as good as the big saws but it works for what I wanted.

I would love to post some pictures (as soon as I learn how) and as soon as our camera is fixed. Daughter gave us back a camera we gave her years ago and it stopped working about 1 hour after I started using it. If someone would tell me how to post pictures here, I will post the few I was able to take.

I feel for all you people that are located in the cold weather. We lived in Washington State for many years and I do not miss the cold weather. Lovely the rest of the year. I do miss the tall trees.

By the way, I looked at several of the items you all have cut and all of you are darn good with the scroll saw...

Aloha, a hui hou (untill we meet again),

Larry
