Ok, first of all, the font was originally seen on Dicks @heppnerguy airplane piece https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/32956-oh-i-did-finish-my-b-25/?tab=comments#comment-368495 He then very kindly let me know where to get the font. I made a word plaque and https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/32989-new-font/ Then other people wanted to know where I got the 'font' from. And so the world turns in this wonderful community of ours !!!! Love your signs , how come you have to make so many ? heppnerguy
I am really surprised at all the people who remarked about the font I used on the Airplane plague I made. I first used it about 6 years ago and it was on one of the first scrolled pieces I made. I have always liked that particular font but only use it occasionally. I am glad I used it this time as it looks like it was new to quite a few others. I love to share what little knowledge I have, if it is going to help someone. Like most of the scrollers, I find it is a continued learning experience and that is one of the things I enjoy about scrolling. The Scroll Saw Village is one of the other things I enjoy about scrolling. I remember when I signed up to become a member and how fun and talented and sharing ones knowledge with others was the one thing that made logging on here often, has become an important part of my life. You people, out there, are truly family in my heart. I feel I know so many of you although I have only met a few of you. I am grateful to Travis for all his hard work and compassion he has put into making this such a wonderful place to hook up with a world wide family. Dick heppnerguy Hi Dick: Ah yes, the good old days when you were teaching us rookies... That's another thing that is great about the Village - as we get new Villagers they see what has been going on in the past so, what you teach today will help others down the road Glad you are part of this wonderful, sometimes nutty family Thanks again Dick Fab4 bobscroll

I am always happy to share what little I know with others, who usually surpass my expertise in a short time. I stay rather stagnate in my work while others like you, take anything I may be able to help them with and run far ahead of me. I just hope when one learns something from me that they pass their knowledge on the others whenever the opportunity allows. savethebeer
Thanks Dick and Brenda for starting this topic. I fell in love with that font last week and downloaded it. Then I made up a saying 'Bob's home for the bewildered' and it looked great. I sent it to myself in work (no printer of my own) but when I printed it out it came out in the font below. I thought it was still good enough so I made up the plaque below. (still not stained, framed or backed) I decided to write to you and just mention the issue about not being able to print off the font, and I think its because its not true type which is the tt you see behind the font name in windows. I was quite happy with the above situation and was not going to mention it, except just now, as well as the above photo I tried to upload the saved page showing the saying in Umbra, just so you could compare, when I realised the attachment and the copy and paste which I also tried, all showed the saying in normal font. Any ideas why the font did not print off in work, or why the attachment had changed to normal font, or why when I copied the Umbra font and pasted it into a second document, it actually pasted as Umbra. Sorry for all the confusing way I've described it' Bob Bob.docx

Sorry for all the confusing way I've described it' Bob Bob.docx Try this link then www.fonts101.com/fonts/view/3d/2443/UmbraNormal you may have to write it in by hand. Also you may go back and look at your fonts listing and see that if it already is there. Sometimes when I try to type a certain font that I have selected and it changes on me when I start to type it. Sorry for all the confusing way I've described it' Bob Bob.docx You mention that you created the doc at home where you had downloaded and installed the Font Umbra. Then you say that you emailed it to yourself at work to print out but that when you opened and printed, it was not the Umbra font. This is because you did not download and install the font on your work computer as well. If you create a document on one computer with one font, and take it to another computer that does not have that font, then it will substitute another font for the one in your document that it does not have. One way around this if you don't want or can't install the font on the work computer is to take the document into a program that lets you create text and then change it to an "object" so it is no longer treated as "text" but as an "object". By doing this, you don't have to worry about whether or not someone or yourself has that font on their computer. If you don't already have a program that you can do this with, you can do it in Inkscape easily enough and it is a free program that most of us here already have. loftyhermes

Fab4
I decided to jump on the UMBRA font bandwagon - can't let you guys have all the fun These letters are 1.5" high - I slowed down the speed of my saw quite a bit after I cut a few letters By slowing down the speed, I had much better control and the letters were coming out a lot better 7"x 9.75" There's 131 HOLES I have to drill then cut....piece of cake....LOL Didn't plan the size out too good - I'll correct it on the next one I can't help but think about Dick(@Heppnerguy) the driver of the bandwagon and Brenda(@Foxfold) first passenger while I'm working on this plaque FOR FONT REASONS ONLY Fab4 Edited March 31, 2019 by Fab4 replaced partial cut with finish cut meflick, heppnerguy, bobscroll and 2 others
Scrappile
I go to install the font and it says a serious error has been found do not use this font file. Could that be because I have a Mac? I've never tried to install a font before, certainly do not know what I am doing.
