new2woodwrk
Hello all, Since Hurricane Michael decimated my area as well as my house and shop, I've had zero time to do anything other than play general contractor. I've finally got: The wall of my garage rebuilt My garage door re-installed My finishing bench cleared of debris My pegboard re-installed for the finishing bench My tools hung back up in their proper place My storage building emptied and ready to be re-positioned on its foundation My dust collection system re-installed My saw tops (scroll saw and table saw) de-rusted and waxed And FINALLY my finishing table setup and ready for finishing! I was hoping to start cutting again this week, I manage to put a finish on one of my puzzles however and that my friends is a step in the right direction to getting back to the business of learning to scroll... Again LOL It's amazing how much you forget after a period of time. The old adage "if you don't use it, you lose it" is very true. Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully, I'll be able to contribute more as life gets back to normal - still a long way to go however My house has no flooring, I have no drywall on one of my exterior walls, all my windows need replacing as well as my front door, I have 3 rental units that still have no renters due to the damage - but aside from that.... LMAO all is well! Edited March 27, 2019 by new2woodwrk MTCowpoke22, bobscroll, jbrowning and 3 others
Foxfold
Welcome back. It sounds like you've had a horrific time. Glad you've finally made it back to your scrollsaw, but still lots of work to do before life gets back to normal. I wish you and your family well. new2woodwrk

meflick
Jes, no need to reintroduce yourself, while you may have been gone for a bit, we still know who you are. Glad to have you posting again. Sorry to hear Michael caused you so much trouble.I know your entire area was devastated by Michael. Glad you are getting things situated with your saws and getting a bit of time to do some work with them. Hope things continue in a positive path for you and you have it all repaired soon. new2woodwrk

All the best for the future Jes, Bob Believe it or not Bob, yes - HOWEVER, what is occurring here is the insurance company is willing to pay for my repairs, but the lender that holds my mortgage DiTech is NOT willing to forward the funds they've already been paid by the insurance company! I've signed a formal complaint with the Attorney General of Florida regarding the lies, deceit and lack of "doing business in good faith". I received an acknowledgement today from the Attorney General they have sent my complaint to DiTech and are DEMANDING a written response to my accusations! So we'll see how it goes - unfortunately, I've had to use my retirement funds to fund the repairs to my house and am now out of money. But, it's all good, because they're not going to win this war.. I am! bobscroll and amazingkevin
amazingkevin
Sorry to hear what's happening, But every day is different. I deal with problems every day and do not like it. God has made a way for me to come out on top but it takes a lot patience and a silent tongue to win here with people problems. Sounds like your on the up an up with your problems too. new2woodwrk and bobscroll

Rockytime
So many victims. Sad to know about your loss but grateful your life is spared. Also glad you can salvage something. Hopefully your luck will be good from now on. new2woodwrk
heppnerguy
I have never had to go through anything like you are now doing and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to even get a good nights sleep. I hope you can get all of that work finished soon. It must be really awful to have to not only put up with all the damage and them fight for the money you have coming. That is why I don't care much for insurance companies. You pay and pay and then when you need it, they find ways to NOT have to pay it. That said, you sound like you are getting your shop back in order. Glad you are back with us. Hope to hear that things are finally starting to get back together for you.
