Popular Post Scrappile
I made this picture in honor of April the giraffe at the Animal Adventure Park in New York, who just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy about a week ago. I watched the birth on live cam. I have done this pattern by @alexfox, before and it is a real treat to cut. There are not difficult or fragile areas, although it may look like their would be. I really recommend this pattern to anyone wanting to try their first picture cut. Alex has a sea turtle one also that is very impressive, a little more difficult, but a pleasure to cut. I did it a little different than any I have done before. I stained the backer behind the giraffe with a stain called Nutmeg, painted the eye area black. You can't see it without really looking closely, but I painted the backer behind the leaves a light green. The green doesn't show up as much as I hoped, but I had to try it. The frame is cherry with Watco Tung Oil finish. The picture is cut in 1/2" Basswood. I guess this is going to another April fan, that is a co-worker of my Daughter. Dave Monk
I really like how you did the backer. I can't see the green behind the leaves but I can sure see the black eyes. Really a nice job! Scrappile

Scrappile
Just a quick up date. I stated that I made this for a friend/co-worker of my daughter. My daughter sent it to her and I received this email from my daughter a couple days ago. This really make the effort worth it. "Christina got the package today. Her exact words - OMG OMG OMG I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT Wow, I could just cry! Thank you, you made her day, week, month " Edited May 2, 2019 by Scrappile

John B
Really nice work Paul. Adding a bit of colour to the backer really makes it a step above the norm.
