NJ Phil
New to scrolling, I'm having a problem with pattern adhesive. I've been using a spray adhesive and half way thru the job the pattern starts to peel off. Any suggestions? Please be specific. Thanks, Phil
Clayton717
I have that problem once in a while. I keep a glue stick next to the saw, and if I see the pattern coming loose I just use the glue stick to glue it back down. It works pretty quick and well. Barry5180
I had a similar problem when I first started too. I found I wasn't using enough of the spray adhesive. My guess is that you are having a lifting problem in very thin areas where there is not a great deal of wood between cuts, this is common. What I do is spray the pattern very liberally with adhesive. Wait a couple of seconds and then attach your pattern. Press the pattern down firmly. If there will be a bunch of very detailed areas, I will sometimes use a veneer roller to make sure I've pressed it down evenly and firmly. If the pattern starts to lift around the blade, stop the saw and take a piece of clear cellophane tape and tape it down. I find this to be the easiest and quickest fix. To remove the pattern I will either use a hair drier set to high. Just start on one end of the cutting and as the drier heats the adhesive, the pattern will pull right off. The other method is to spray the cutting with mineral spirits until the pattern turns kind of see through. In many cases, the pattern will come off in one piece. If there is any adhesive residue, wiping with a little mineral spirits and then a careful sanding after the cutting has dried will remove the rest. I know this was long, but you said be specific..lol Hope it helps. Barry
Vector01
I've been using Elmer's Craft Bond "multi-purpose" spray adhesive for over two years with great results. Spray the back of the pattern, wait 30 seconds and apply to the wood (I cover the wood with clear packing tape first). I let a piece sit for two days and the pattern still stuck. The only problem I had with peeling was not applying enough adhesive.
Messman
When I have a problem with the pattern lifting on me, I just use clear tape scotch type. I keep a dispenser right beside my saw when I am cutting.
