Rob Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) This is the London house of a Kenyan poet left to the National Trust after his death and now a museum. No detail on the fretwork but impressive nonetheless. Click here for the video. Rob Edited April 5, 2019 by Rob New Guy and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
John B Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 Quite magnificent Rob. A bit over the top for me but I sure can appreciate the craftsmanship. Perception is a funny thing. I called the missus into look at the clip and her first words were "Imagine all the dusting" kmmcrafts, OCtoolguy, Scrappile and 2 others 5 Quote
Scrappile Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 @John B, I guess because I live in a dusty part of our country, my first thought was the same as you wife's! I bet he did that all with a hand saw also,,,, . Pretty amazing. When did he have time to write poems? May scrolling made him a poet, I do a lot of thinking while I scroll, coarse none of my thinking produces anything.... John B and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
Bill WIlson Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 Cut & Paste from Wikipedia; "For 20 years,[5] he decorated it internally with Moorish-influenced fretwork[1] which he cut by hand from discarded pine doors and wooden boxes." I vaguely recall reading about this several years ago. Somebody may have posted about it on one of the forums, but I can't remember. OCtoolguy and Scrappile 2 Quote
Rockytime Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 Done in 20 years? Seems unbelievable. Hard to imagine something so ornate. London, a place I often wished I could visit. Thank you for the post. OCtoolguy and Rob 1 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted April 5, 2019 Report Posted April 5, 2019 If he did all that with a hand scroll saw, he must never have slept. Or eaten. Or anything else. Rob 1 Quote
