Not sure if this is the right place but i think it interests us all.

I am a member of the above group on facebook and it seems there is some turmoil going on with the officers and such.  If you are on facebook it is worth checking out whats going on with it.   I dont know much but it seems the old leadership left and the new people want to know if they should keep it going.  I am not a member is SAW but felt some people here might want to keep informed.

I've been following along too. I have become a member of just about all the Facebook groups that deal with woodworking and scroll sawing. This one seems to need some new leadership if it's going to survive. I'm much more interested in local clubs but unfortunately, there aren't many near me to choose from. The one here in Orange County doesn't seem to be doing much either.

Though I follow on Facebook I am not a member of the organization and have never been.  From what I have seen on FB this organization has a history of these meltdowns and mass confusion.  In general I  think these folks are and were well meaning but it is a massive undertaking and they do not have a time, energy and resources.

I agree, I have looked at it off and on over the years and it seem like it has always struggled.  I don't bother looking anymore, because I figure how could it be any better than right here in The Village?

Totally agree Paul. I only go to other places to read after I've devoured everything here.

15-20 years or so ago, SAW was an integral part of the scrolling community.  Leadership of the group was well respected and they provided a valuable service to members.  However over the years, the problems described in this thread have led to the organization becoming a shell of its former self.  It's unfortunate, but with social media, there is less and less need for an organization like SAW.  I wish them well.  Maybe 3rd time is a charm and they will right the ship and become viable again, but frankly, I can't see it happening.

I stay off FB myself, but thanks for the heads up

Are there other organizations worth being a member?

I think scrollers cafe  (scrollerscafe.com) is a very nice group.  LumberJock, not just scroll saw but good for all wood working.  These are just other forums...

I joined every group that had anything to do with the scroll saw. I even joined the one that is mostly U.K. members. As long as it's about the hobby, I'm in.

I tried the Scrollsaw Cafe but just didn't see enough activity to warrant my time. I check it out about once a week.
