Nice work Steve, as usual for you.  Be neat is Ms Kingdon would make a pattern of one of her real detailed stacked pictures, like the "Hare In the Brambles" or "Sea of Storms"

Paul if she did, we know at least two folks that would purchase them...You & I.😁

Those came out great Steve. I noticed on her site that she states that here patterns are for personal use only..........does that mean you can't sell your finished product?

I was a little confused about this as well, but her copyright notice refers specifically to the actual pattern and not the finished article cut from it. At least that is my interpretation, but I think I will contact Fiona to clarify. Basically, we need to know if items made from Fiona's patterns can be sold and if so, whether or not the seller is required to issue a copyright notice with the finished product.

Dave, I think that it pertains to the pattern and not the product...I give most of my work away to folks....I always give credit to the pattern designers of a piece !

I've been looking at her patterns and a couple have caught my eye. I post my work on my FB page and also sell most of my stuff. I'm too old to go to jail.😀

I interpret that as the pattern, which is what most pattern copyrights are for.  You cannot resale the pattern or give copies away.  I would not hesitate to sale what I cut from it.  Besides, jail may be better than some of the places I've seen old folks stashed in.  Where did I see it written, "the older I get the less life in prison seem like a deterrent", or something like that.

I have just received a reply back from Fiona Kingdon re. the use of her patterns. This is her reply;

"Hi David, thanks for your enquiry. It is my intention that my patterns are made available to folks so that they can cut them for personal use, not for commercial purposes. i.e not for sale. My work remains my copyright and in theory I get to dictate the terms of its use."

Fiona also accepts that in reality, folks will do as they please.

Very nice!

I really do love Fiona's work and I have you, Steve,  to thank for my discovery of her talent.

I've just completed the same 'Double Dragon'  pattern.  Mine is in Spalted Maple.  A little while ago, I completed four of Fiona's 'Drips and Dragons'.

I agree that people should not be using Fiona's patterns to produce items that they, in turn, sell.  All the Fiona Kingdon designed items  items that I have made so far have either  been gifts for others or have been kept by me.

Next up will be her 'Bee on a Comb'.
