As a mother I've always tried to keep my daughter shielded from the worse things in the world. Although she's now in her 40s I still have that urge to protect her and make things right. Today I'm heartbroken and at a loss as my daughter lost her beloved father today and I can't make it right. Although we've been divorced for a very long time, we've always remained friends and I mourn his loss and my daughter heartbreak.  Sorry, I just had to tell someone and I know that the lovely people here wouldn't mind me crying on their shoulder.  Brenda xx

Cry away Brenda, we have lots of shoulders here.  I am sorry for the loss you are both suffering.  Glad you were able to remain friends and be there for your daughter.  Losing a parent is very hard, I am glad she has you to help her through the loss of her father. Prayers said for you all as you traverse through this loss together.

I am so very sorry to hear of yours and your daughters sad loss.  I take my hat off to you that you and your ex remained friends, sometimes that is very hard to do and some don't even try.  Your daughter will get though it with you help and love, you have each other.  ❤️  💐

Thank you Marg.  We never fell out, we just grew up and wanted different things from life and decided to call it a day and go our separate ways.  My daughter, then 18yrs old decided to stay with her father as it was easier to get to university and the city, whereas I moved to the countryside, but we always kept in touch.  We were together for 25yrs and in many ways he made me who I am today.
