savethebeer
Have given up for the weekend. Things started well enough but then found that my Pegas modified geometry no 5 was shredding my pattern. It cut the wood perfectly but I noticed the paper line being torn rather than being cut. Never had this happen before when it was impossible to do the reverse side of a peninsula because the pattern was unreadable and totally unable to follow the return line. The 'shredding' was probably similar to the effect one would get by using sandpaper on the edge of a paper sheet. Changed to a Pegas no 7 skip reverse and problem solved but I got a breakthrough several minutes later in the middle of an M in the middle of a saying. Decided there was no way to save the piece as there was no way to do hidden repairs so it went into the fire pile. Started a completely different project and within 20 minutes got two breakthroughs in noticeable locations so I just thought about using bad language, then I used bad language, and tossed this second piece. So here I am, sober cause I'm going hill walking tomorrow, and nothing else to do except talk to the village. crupiea
Sounds like a tough day at the saw. hate t when that happens. I love hiking myself and do quite well hungover. The added carbs or something always seem to help. just sayin. OCtoolguy, wombatie and RabidAlien
kmmcrafts
Had the same issue one time with those Pegas.. what solved my problem was I took the blade out and put it back in right side up, LOL Otherwise I've never had an issue with them.. OCtoolguy
Re: Pegas blades, have you ever noticed them being a tad shorter than other brands? I was using my Hawk and was having a hard time getting the blade seated in the top clamp. Just for the sake of comparison I checked the blade against one of the blades that came with the saw. R-B blades are about 1/8" longer.

Those last few gross I bought last winter that had the notch in them... yeah.. those are even longer yet.. and I almost always break the #5's but rarely break a number 3 on the Hawk.. yet I rarely have any breakage on the Ex or the DeWalt before i sold it.. They all break at that notched out part.. So I had been either just using the 3's on the Hawk or switching to FD blades.. or just use the EX... ScollSaw Slasher
Have had the same problem at times with Pegas blades, and it doesn't matter whether 1 3 or 5. I made mention on another thread recently that I screwed up a cut on a Baltic Birch piece. Part of the problem was that pattern either tearing or slightly lifting which leads to overcuts on delicate areas of wood retention of the pattern. Thinking about going back to Olsens which I never had a problem cutting the finer things in life, even on my Hitachi scroll saw. Now the pegas are great for my intarsia where I'm working with 1/2" to 1" stock. But in my hands, do not like them for 1/8" or 1/4" stock.
