You have the right idea Kevin. Did you tilt your saw table at all? It takes some playing around to get the right angle but once you find it the pieces will fit flush.

thanks ray. Every Dewalt i've had(12) getting the table back to zero and stayig there has been a nightmare, i even used a giant washer behind the knob which helps but still it wanders.Could be i'm tightning the knob way to tight? I see what you mean.

Kevin, I had a 788 and had no problem with the table once I figured out how to center the blade in the hole and how to adjust the blade to be perpendicular to the table. Once I got it adjusted, I made sure the little ball was in the detent on the table trunnion and then adjusted the pointer to be on zero. After having that many 788's you should know how to do all that. It just takes time and figuring out what does what.

Yes Inlay!! Nice work

I love to do this type of work and hope to get more of a chance to do more of it sometime soon.. I've only toyed with inlay so far.. done a couple of pieces.. but nothing to write home about yet. LOL

I agree with Ray.. Never had any issue with the angle going back to 0 on the DeWalt.. Hawks is another story though.. I wouldn't recommend switching angles very often on one..

I check the zero setting on my DW788 at least once a week. I do an occasional relief cut and sometimes when I reset to zero it is off a hair. If you stack cut, a “hair” off can make for kindling. I have tried various techniques to square it up and have found that a small machinist square that Steve Good recommended works best. I got it on Amazon for about  $6.00.

Kevin, that is definitely inlay that you did there. I am experimenting with different angles and you will get totally different results depending on what direction you tilt the saw and whether you cut clockwise, or counterclockwise. I made a guide to hang by my saw to refer to, as I could never remember the different directions.

Thanks Kevin.Yes the table does go to zero and more but soon changes on it own making cut pieces not come out but one way if that and in the middle of puzzles it will mess me up?I can,t believe I,m actually organizing the shop.Way to much wood.,I hope I don,t stop like I did last year

I never had that happen. There must be something missing, worn or loose somewhere in your table.
