About 4 hrs of cutting. Top; 5/16 hardwood, FD R #3. Bottom; 5/16 hardwood I cut all the interior, then laminated another 5/16 board to the top with gorilla glue (need to use more weight). After letting the piece cure for 24 hrs, cut the exterior. I just need to finish the piece (soak in BLO) and attach to the house I'm thinking about darkening the letters with a stain pen to make them stand out a bit (before the BLO). What do you think? Roberta Moreton
I like the idea of darkening the letters, but I’m afraid the stain will bleed.

trackman
I agree with you I think the welcome gets lost in the fret work. Even more from a distance. Not sure what the answer is.
Dad_Tech77
Thanks so much for the info....what about a lighter stain and then a paint for the lettering? Something not too dark but enough for the letters to pop.....just a thought

I tested an idea today, if I use an exacto knife to make a very light score the stain will stop at the score line. I will try to post pictures as I continue the piece. rdatelle
That looks great. I agree. I think the letters need a little something t stand out, especially the W.
Scrappile
Very nice cutting of a pretty piece. I'd be tempted to put the letters of that pattern on a thin piece of contrasting wood, cut them and then glue them on top of the existing lettering.... then the "welcome" would really stand out. amazingkevin
Wichman
Two coats of Minwax "Early American" on the letters, two coats of "dark walnut" on the birds, used an xcato Knife to put a light score line where I wanted to stain to stop, worked pretty good. bobscroll, Lucky2 and Roberta Moreton
