This is another of Steve Good's Patterns , I cut this for a customer that shipped it off for one of his Grandchildren that loved cats . I used 1/2" Hard Maple and spray painted it flat Black , he really liked it too .......any comments welcome .........

Hu'um,i think Brian and Mike are correct. It's like painting the bumper's on your car.But an artist ,even a scroll saw artist is allowed to make that decision.I fall in the same catogory,I'll paint it.All my doors have cats with mice and dogs on them ,and they ALL are painted! oop's i let the cat out of the bag!My reasoning is they stand out better as silouettes, touche! :)Marshall the score is 2 to 2 i'm with you buddy

Nice job Kevin . Myself I would not paint over hardwoods but that is your project and you do what you like . That is one thing I like about scrollsaw village and that is everybody gives you a honest opinion . I for one like the honesty and criticism here it makes me a better scroller. happy Scrolling , Eagledrum70

I vote not to paint hardwoods just paint plain old mdf or ply, no one knows whats under the paint. That said, I love the kittens, reminds me of a black kitten I once had, she had LOTS of personality. Well done.

very good but it is criminal to paint Maple

Yes you are right , but it was a rush job -- and yes I will use MDF if I make another one of these . But this piece came out of the burn pile any way  .......

looks great Marshall. I have to agree I hate to paint hardwoods. If I'm going to paint something I use cheap wood- pine, poplar or mdf. But then if thats what the customer wants what can you do.

And yuo save it from the burn pile even better.

Love the kittens. I have a little 3 year old black cat (with just a white tip to her tail) and she still acts like the kittens in your cutting.

I give up trying to keep score. I'd rather not paint hardwoods but if that's what I've cut it out of and the customer wants it painted I suppose I'd do it. Does this mean I'm sitting on the fence? :)
