I am into another project now and same painters tape etc. so I will dust off the heat gun. Will let you know DTR.... Danny :+} Well, if you are wondering about my comment, we are under the total control of a repressive nanny-state government that tells us what we can have and what we can't have. We are allowed to have smelly old paint thinner but for some unknown reason we aren't allowed to have to more refined and almost odorless mineral spirits. Go figure! Quote
danny Posted July 27, 2019 Report Posted July 27, 2019 Well I did give the Hair Blow Dryer a try. And I am Pleased. After off n on with the heat for maybe a minute with giving the pattern a yank Finally it All lifted Beautifully. And I Thank You for this Hint. Danny :+} OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Ron C. Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 I am a beginner here even though I have had a scroll saw for many years. I recently upgraded from my uncles gift to me some 40 years ago of a 16" Craftsman pinned blade to an RBI 226 VS. Man I love it. Anyhow, I have been using 2 inch painter's tape before pattern lay down and I hated the time it took me to remove the pattern with the 2 inch tape after fret work. I got to thinking do they make a wider tape and sure enough they do. I am now using 4 inch tape on my bigger projects and I love it. Quote

BadBob Posted September 8, 2024 Report Posted September 8, 2024 For fretwork, I glue the pattern directly to the wood. When I am done cutting, I remove the pattern by wetting it with solvent. After it sits for a short time, the pattern comes off in one piece. I use mineral spirits for the solvent and 3M77 for my adhesive. You may need a different solvent for your adhesive. Quote
