I just started using pegas  blades and the wear time on 1/4 BB ply is about 1+  hour but on 3/4 pine it is  about I got 20 minuts and they were shot. I had used olson blades for a long time

and the wear time was a lot higher  the same speed. pegas blades are LOT smother running  and I was almost sold on them.

What Olsen blades do you run?

I've had just the opposite.. the Pegas last a lot longer than the others I've used.. I will say they don't like heat.. so if you're running a pretty fast saw speed.. they'll dull quicker.. I don't have this issue on my Excalibur.. but I do on the DeWalt and Hawk but these two saws have a faster running speed.. i have to turn it down some for these two saws..

Another thing too.. They do cut straighter than most the other blades.. and when I first tried them I kept pushing sort of more on the side of the blade as I was used to the couple of degrees off that most blades have.. so by doing that I was creating a little more heat with them..

Kevin, I had the exact same experience. But, in reverse. I was used to using Pegas #5 blades and for some unknown reason, I decided to try some FD blades. All of a sudden I couldn't keep them going straight. I had to really push to one side to stay on the line. I love me some PEGAS!

I change it up all the time like that... gives me something challenging to do :) and keeps me in tune with all the different blades..LOL.. I used FD blades for a good 12 + years so I adjust in just a few seconds after switching back from the Pegas.. I do this because I do like to be well versed in being able to use about any blade thrown my way..

I don't reckon I've had a chance to test drive all them fancy blades. I may have to keep some of those names stashed in my thinker box fer a rainy day.🤔

Personally, I ain't never run nothin but Olson &  Flyin Dutchman blades of all sizes and types & ain't never had no issues with them.

The #0 & #1 blades do have a tendency to stray off the cut line, but to solve that issue, I run my blade tension a little tighter than the hot shots say to, & I slow the blade speed down a snort. If'n yer in such a all mighty hurry that you're runnin that blade might near full throttle, ya ain't got any business scrollin.

In all honesty, scroll blades despise heat & speed. The two together will wreck yer blade faster'n ya can change'em! Especially in hardwood. Learn to find a speed that yer saw & blade are workin at an even keel, & constant speed. Regardless of how fancy a name yer blade has, it'll keep cuttin fer a long, steady, even cut.

Learn to be consistent, easy on the throttle, & let the blade do the work. You'll find your results will change, yer blades will keep cuttin, regardless of the breed of blades, wood, or saw.
