Pegas Replacement clamps for Old Excalibur Saw

Recommended Posts

I own one of the purple Excalibur saws manufactured about 20 years ago.  That's when these saws were still being made by Sommerville in Pickering Ontario Canada.

It's been a great saw but, for the last year or so, the clamping mechanism has been acting up.  I tried fixing things with the Quick Clamp Renewal Kit from Seyco but that did not help much.

I finally decided to try the (expensive) Clamp Replacement Kit from Pegas:

In the photo, the kit is still in the box and the upper clamp mechanism has been removed and is sitting on the left hand side of the table.

The kit comes with no instructions, but it turned out to be quite easy to install.  My only difficulty was removing the old clamp mechanism beneath the table because it had sort of "glued" itself into place.

The Pegas clamps are a joy to use. 😀  They are better than original clamps ever were.

I'd like to upgrade to the whole Pegas saw.. and ditch my Excalibur, LOL

I don't know that there is that much difference in them Kevin. Unless you have an EX that was made in China. Mine was made in Canada and I can't imagine that Pegas has done anything other than the clamps to improve it. I do like the paint job but not enough to spend $700 on it. My saw couldn't be much better since I upgraded the the clamps. I love it.

Mine's from China.. and one of the first few made in China, believe this is why I've had the issues I have had.. the back part of the saw is noisy like something ready to fly apart.. works good and smooth but noisy
